Facebook Official is the first single from “Heart2Heart,” a brand new boy-band mentored by former N*SYNC member Lance Bass.
Oh, and it’s unbelievably horrible.
I honestly can’t tell if this is a joke or not. According to The Prophet Blog:
The group’s creator and leader, David Lehre AKA Chad Future, is a filmmaker who got his start back in high school from creating boy band parody music videos with his friend. He’s since moved on to a semi-successful career writing, directing, and even television hosting, but “Facebook Official” to me seems more like a publicity stunt to further raise his profile by mocking the current K-Pop wave and tapping into the nostalgia for superstar boy bands, rather than a legitimate musical venture.
Chad Future (smh) sounds pretty serious in a note he published to Facebook, but I’m just not sure what to believe anymore!
I feel like this is another one of those things that, if it’s legit, means humanity is way worse shape than I thought. Am I overreacting? Maybe. Maybe this is a less-subtle parody than other jabs at all-male dancing pop groups. I, for one, am holding out hope that it is. Despite their EP on iTunes.
What do you think?
