WARNING! Free iPhone Worm is Spreading on Facebook

Oct. 5, 2010

Assuming you’re not stupid enough to fall for this crap, you probably have some friends who are. Kindly tell them to avoid these types of applications.

Although it doesn’t look like it’s trying to steal any information or install any malicious software, these things should always be avoided.

If you see your anyone’s status boasting about a free iPhone with links to a variety of sites/applications, DO NOT click, and let them know so they can remove the update. Here are a few examples:

Knowing, after all, is half the battle.

Use OnStar to Update Facebook While Driving

Sep. 15, 2010

Isn’t driving so boring? Don’t you wish there was an easier way to be distracted from the multitude of things you should be paying attention to while careening your several-thousand-pound vehicle through rush hour traffic?

Well GM is here to satiate your ADD with OnStar’s new Facebook application!

The new service allows you to verbally dictate (because talking isn’t distracting) your desired status update which then gets posted as an audio file along with the text “has posted an audio update from [his/her] [model of automobile] using OnStar.”

Is this a good idea since it allows drivers to keep their eyes on the road? Or is this just another distraction from the task at hand?

I’m mostly upset people are going to know what a piece of crap I drive.

FB News: Places Backlash As Unsurprising As The Setting Sun

Sep. 1, 2010

When Facebook Places launched, most of us were skeptical and concerned over the privacy of the whole thing. Currently, fear and confusion over the application are more dominant than those actually using the service.

“Your location is only revealed if you deliberately check-in to that place via Facebook Places. Your friends can also tag you at the same time they check in themselves but the first time this happens, you will be sent a message asking if you are willing to authorize the request.

Nor is your location is not revealed for “everyone to see”. For most people, including all minors, Places is set so that only friends can see your location. It depends on your general privacy settings. If you have these set so that only friends can see your profile and information, then only friends will be able to see your location.”

So now that it’s been out for a while, what do you all have to say about it? Do you use it? Fear it? Hate it? Let us know below!
