Actually, although I don’t believe it’s on the market yet, there has been a birth control developed for men. I don’t think it’s progesterone-based, but yes, soon men will be able to take birth control.
There is no long-term damage from birth control medication. There are some side effects which disappear as soon as the medication is stopped. The only long-term effects of birth control, aside from the obvious, are the significantly lowered risks of several kinds of cancer.
That’s why you don’t use Depo long-term. But no OBGYN is going to give a guy Depo shots (unless he’s a sex offender I guess, since that’s what they use for “chemical castration” on men). This is obviously the pill they’re talking about, and I’ve never seen any data to support the pill causing a loss in bone density.
LOL, i just contributed to a study to show that modern female birth control pills are twice as likely to produce heart irregularities than the old ones for females.
It’s up on there with the problems to the cardiovascular system you get from smoking tobacco.
It’s also known to INCREASE risks of breast cancer, the most common form of cancer in women.
Since heart attacks and death are some of the listed side effects in the commercials, how exactly do those disappear as soon as the medication is stopped? Because if what you say is true we all need to take birth control till we die then we will be resurrected!
Yep, maybe if you purchase it or something, you can get a hold of it. Or he may be using the fact that it is discovered to lie to her. Guess we’ll never know…
Just step away from the internetz a bit, go out into nature, take some deep breaths. There are good reasons to stay on this planet (or make your escape into space, could be fun, call Sir Richard Branson) and go on living.
If you also have to work with the public I don’t blame you one bit.
Assuming you mean the calendar method, that has a Pearl index of 25, among the worst among all contraceptive methods. It certainly is far from “surefire”. Maybe you meant abstinence, I couldn’t quite tell, in that case you’re right of course (Disclaimer: I don’t support all that “no sex before marriage” BS)
You’d better be danged sure, though. My ex (divorced) and I had two kids with the rhythm method. (He also bought these really crappy condoms that were always breaking and tearing.)
I tended to get some of the rarer, nastier side effects from birth control pills. (It bites when you’re one of the point something percent that the bad stuff happens to.)
Yes. Thank you. And some people are more fertile than others. Honestly, a condom is the best protection against STIs anyway. But the pill for men is a great idea for backup.
Meh, a friend from school shared her pills with her boyfriend, they split the pills in half and both took half a pill every day, because that makes total sense. 9 months later, she had twins.
As long as she means male birth control. Which I REALLY hope she means… cause, if she means birth control pills meant for women, and she’s asking if they’ll work for a guy if he takes them… I weep at the lack of logic inherent in that train of thought.
We should track down people asking stupid things about contraception and sterilize them. Just to be sure.
(In France we even have people asking if a female baby inside her mother can get pregnant if the mother has sex. I lost faith in humanity.)

I’m just going to take a wild stab in the dark here, and guess that the OP above doesn’t know this, and is talking about HER birth control pills…
exactly. there was some publicity about it a while back, it should be available soon. do your research failbook!
Having seen what birth-control does to women, I’d rather just get the pipe-cut. Probably less long-term damage.
There is no long-term damage from birth control medication. There are some side effects which disappear as soon as the medication is stopped. The only long-term effects of birth control, aside from the obvious, are the significantly lowered risks of several kinds of cancer.
Buffy, You might want to read the studies on birth control medication. I would consider a decrease in bone strength long-term damage.
A decrease in bone density is entirely reversable, as well as preventable while taking the pill.

“Damage” is a very subjective term in the medical field, and side-effects from stopping birth control can last several months to a year and longer.
Actually you are right that it does reduce the risk of certain types of cancer, but also raises the risks of a few others…
LOL, i just contributed to a study to show that modern female birth control pills are twice as likely to produce heart irregularities than the old ones for females.

So, not one thing right but keep talking, hun…
Since heart attacks and death are some of the listed side effects in the commercials, how exactly do those disappear as soon as the medication is stopped? Because if what you say is true we all need to take birth control till we die then we will be resurrected!
It all depends on the person. Some people love the pill. Honestly, it’s worth a try. But yeah… syphilis.
WAIT WHAT?!?!?
*throws out condom belt; runs to buy lube*
COULD IT BE TRUE?!?!?!
*throws out single condom that’s been in wallet for 3 years; realizes this news will not impact life; gently weeps*
forever alone
^lol this

Frvr aln
the irony of being forever alone with other people
You’re an optimist; I haven’t even bought my first condom…
Goodbye condoms, hello gonorrhea!
*does not protect from STDs
That’s what I was going to say. There’s a male pill out there. This might well not be a fail.
I’m a guy and I have been taking birth control pills for years. I haven’t gotten pregnant yet!
You’re a FishDawg, we are talking about Human reproduction here…
Genius!
You da dawg!
also makes men grow a lovely pair of breasts
What’s wrong with that? It’s the only way some guys are ever going to get their hands on a pair.
They also grow them by getting really fat.
As I recall it’s still in clinicals.
There definitely is a male contraceptive!
Yep, maybe if you purchase it or something, you can get a hold of it. Or he may be using the fact that it is discovered to lie to her. Guess we’ll never know…
There are certain methods of male birth control. At least one involves a permanently higher voice.
Only if you have it done before puberty

I guess that’s why it’s FAILblog
And this is why the planet is overpopulated.

*grabs the gun and adjusts it’s aim to the question poster’s temple* There MUCH better.
just give him a good kick in the nuts
Why not just wait for sex until a better time? People shouldn’t be so afraid of using the surefire way to prevent problems.
Doing it right after her period? Good luck getting into ANY girl’s pants after her period…………….
No, no, no, right BEFORE her period!
he he
Not sure wether you are trolling.
(right before = fertile, right after = safest time)
I really suggest that you pick up a college freshmen level Biology or human development textbook, and get a clue.
This is not necessarily smart as a woman may ovulate more than once a month..
A woman can get pregnant during any time of her cycle. But there are days when she will be more fertile than others.
Yes. Thank you. And some people are more fertile than others. Honestly, a condom is the best protection against STIs anyway. But the pill for men is a great idea for backup.
Correct! And you can get pregnant DURING your period too..
I know all about the hormone spikes, from both study and experience. I just wanted to say not all girls have PMS, so there is still a chance.
*slides balls across mm’s forehead*
*jizzes in mm’s pants*
You mean until after menopause?
*touches mm inappropriately*
Yes. You wont get pregnant since the hormones will eventually turn him into a girl and he will turn homosexual.
makes total sense.
*lesbian
Do lesbians turn guys into girls?
When they come out of the closet and break up with them to go date a woman, and the guys cry like little girly men.
No, but love does.

Now we know why ignorance breeds ignorance.
Male birth control = 2 tabs of dianabol a day
Tell your boyfriend to put the pill in his shoe so that he will have a limp. Then you can’t get pregnant. lolololol
What he “hates” is not exactly your biggest concern here.
Meh, a friend from school shared her pills with her boyfriend, they split the pills in half and both took half a pill every day, because that makes total sense. 9 months later, she had twins.
i get shots that last for 2 months. So yes guys to have Birth Control.
As long as she means male birth control. Which I REALLY hope she means… cause, if she means birth control pills meant for women, and she’s asking if they’ll work for a guy if he takes them… I weep at the lack of logic inherent in that train of thought.
If he takes birth control pills meant for women, he will develop breasts.
Not the mini-pill. Isn’t that progesterone? It’s a different hormone.
That said I really was hoping she was talking about the pill for men!
Wow, you’re involved in that clinical trial in India? Congrats for helping medical science. Hopefully this will get approved soon for sale.
She could try to swallow a condom…you know, just to be sure.
step one, sterilization.
that is all.
(stupid is as stupid does, do we need another generation of fuking retards?)
It should be legal for her family doctor to schedule a mandatiry tube tying after reading her post. All expenses on her of course.
*progesterone
Dear lord, the amount of complete and utter bs regarding a woman’s reproductive system in this thread is at an epic level.
Nearly the same level as the original fail being commented on.
We should track down people asking stupid things about contraception and sterilize them. Just to be sure.
(In France we even have people asking if a female baby inside her mother can get pregnant if the mother has sex. I lost faith in humanity.)
this is what i call an “i don’t want to live on this planet anymore- moment”
This isn’t even surprising. No one teaches teenagers about contraceptives.
ALLERGIC to birth control?
At least she’s asking the question. Puts her a step ahead a lot of other youngsters who take no precautions and get themselves knocked up.
What an ignorant slut.
I honestly don’t find this stupid, birth control pills should stop meiosis both ways.
