I’m on the side that wishes Lucas would just release the Original versions [with all that re-mastered sound stuff] on Blu-Ray. Don’t give a donkey about the prequels but the fact that Lucas wants the originals of the Original Trilogy to be forgotten by the time all the VHS tapes have died proves he is a real joker. I really like Star Wars and the changes he has made and keeps making is a complete disgrace. Of course the number 1 reason is to make more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more Money. He is such a child; creating a grand Galaxy was not enough for him. He’d have died a rich legend if he left Star Wars at Episode 4 [he didn't even do Empire and Jedi] and then let the fans make the extended universe. The fat idiot probably thinks everything to do with Star Wars was himself but Star Wars is big because of the fans and Lucas does nothing but give them the finger. Anyways that’s my 50 cents [or whatever it's called].
i would do a “TL;DR,” but i happen to mostly agree. except that i liked the full original trilogy.
Lucas’ problem is that he doesn’t listen to people smarter than him. For example, people who might say “George, why don’t you hire a competent writer to develop a story.”
Exactly, George had little power over the original films, he didn’t even make the second two and they turned out to be really good films. But he had complete control over the prequels. I understand that people like the prequels but in my personal opinion, they are some of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. All because Lucas had control over them.
LucasArts had some good games (the Dark Forces series.) otherwise, i have a hard time thinking of other positive contributions Lucas has made. i think perhaps his name needs to be stricken from the rolls of history.
Ah Dark Forces, those games pretty much make up my childhood, that and Quake
Anyways, I won’t be buying the Blu-Ray. I think the only people who will buy it are those who don’t know what they’re getting them selves into (especially the Vader saying No thing in Jedi), christ, if I had bought the Blu-Ray without know how much more Lucas has wrecked the films, I would get a refund without question or shadow of a doubt. The 2004 DVDs I have arn’t perfect, even they have addon rubbish like Hayden Christian ruining the end.
I have the original versions before 1997 on VHS and I’m going to watch them sometime soon. It’ll be great. I’ll probably attempt to put them onto DVD even though my last attempt at that didn’t turn out so well with one of my other VHS tapes :’(

This is so lame. When you make a masterpiece like The Mona Lisa or Michelangelo’s David you dont come back after you finished and change it ever few years. Lucas is such a failure now. This is also why i like star trek better than star wars.
That depends on how you look at it. George Lucas ais an extremely successful business man, but his filmmaking abilities have diminished from his early work.
The three new star wars movies are incredibly bad. Even for his standards they are suprisingly poor. The last indy movie is a little bit better, but not a lot. It has some things going for it though, but it should have been better.
Watch redlettermedia’s review of the star wars movies. It’s hilarious.
Gary Kurtz produced American Graffiti, Star Wars and Empire Strikes back, then went his separate way from Lucas and went on to produce The Dark Crystal instead of Return of the Jedi. it’s no coincidence that the film made without Kurtz, RoTJ, is significantly inferior to the other two. The story is weak (a second Death Star, how original!), the feel cheesier, the action more cartoonish and merchandising seems to be the main driving force.
Kurtz wanted to make great movies, Lucas wants to make money.
There’s another side of it too – the second and third of the original trilogy were better directed than the first movie, and better than the prequel trilogy. Lucas should have stepped back enough to let someone else nix horrible elements (aww, baby Greedo and Jabba, aww) out of the prequel trilogy that made them so nauseating.
No dissin the master!
Well, I hope he CHOKES on it. ‘Nuff said.
The master buttered his bread!
And now he has to lie in it.
The longer he lives the more I think any successes he had where accidents on his part.
A long time ago, in a kitchen far far away…
… a man made three main courses and realized 20 years later he felt like having appetizers.
Would putting pepper and mayp down throat called eating?
If the man ate just one sandwich yhears ago he’d gotta be hugry
Oh god. Good morning ya bean dips!!

Jar-Jar Binks… nuff said on that toilet stain of a prequel trilogy…
Thank you Tmsccf for that in depth insight. Again your writing is nice to read.
If I knew how to put colour or different fonts to my writing, I think I could make my writing beautiful too.
Either by accident or by purpose, you’ve made a really good metaphor of the Star Wars films!
(in the words of MT) I make nice, indepth writing through content and arguement. A great metaphor for the Original trilogy.
And you talk about making writing look nice with colours and crazy fonts, neverminding any real content. A great metaphor for the prequels.
Congratulations

The original trilogy and the prequels are released on Blu-Ray.
NOOOOOOo on sting ray!
wrong, it was manta ray
Incorrect, it was DEATH RAY.

the Mona Lisa was originally blonde. and David originally had a cleft palate. just sayin.
+2 internetz

Apparently, Ewoks now blink. Weeeeeeird…
Lucas deserves to be r@ped by a tribe of Ewoks.
take that back or I will cut you in half with my lightsaber!
Didn’t george lucas make “labrynth”??
He was a producer for Labyrinth. He wrote and directed American Graffiti.
*too lazy too google search and verify*
…..I knew that.
Especially pointless as it was a S**t sandwich to start with.
The joke’s no good. Phil Smith tried a bit too hard on this one.
Totally agree. Was never that pleased with this one. I was utterly gobsmacked myself when it took off the way it did. But there you go.
More like vomit and feces
SOUNDS LIKE MY KINDA PARTY
Isn’t he throwing pepper and mayonaise down the crapper?
Star Wars is just a sandwich which was made & eaten?
I’m sorry but this is ridiculous. You don’t just get over a movie like a sandwich.

Mmm… sandwich… tastes like Internetz and Vegamite.
And at some point he pooped out the second trilogy.

It’s a movie. Get over yourself.
I originally read this as “George Michael etc.” and it made sense. U mad?
The Mayo down the throat does make sense in that case…
This makes no sense. He made a sammich? He’s not a woman!
I managed to somehow substitute George Lopez’s name into this the first time I read it. So I was a little confused.
If you go get laid, your star-wars butthurt will clear up in a jiffy.
Lies!
I watched “A New Hope” very carefully, and I noticed who shot first.
The Rebel Blockade Runner!
