  1. teh d00che – Presidon’t of teh Internetz says:

    You can’t handle the truth!

  2. ololo says:

Actually that doesn’t happen in countries more civilised than the US

    • Ryan Waxx says:

Let us know when you find one, then.

      • American (and not so proud) says:

Yeah, look either to the north, south, east, or west of the US

        • Ryan Waxx says:

Now, not to knock your ignorant attitude or anything, but you’re seriously claiming, for example, that Mexico is more civilized than the U.S.?

Well, considering that you apparently live exclusively in caves, that statement might make sense. Warmer down there, after all.

          • Sexington says:

Well now you’ve just contradicted yourself, by being ignorant yourself.

Good sir, I do believe you dun goofed.

          • Someone says:

Everyone above was being ignorant. But you, sir, are even more so, which is funny since you were trying to prove a point that you weren’t ignorant.

Also, there are plenty of civilisations (geddit, it’s a civilisation, they are civilised) that live in caves, Mr Judgemental.

            • guh says:

I agree that everyone above this post was being completely ignorant about civilization and society and stuff, but from this post on everyone is completely brilliant and amazing.

              • That cool non-religoius laid back guy from Canada says:

Just because the US is a very religious country and their people speak much of what they beleive in no way makes them un-civilized. I have very few friends from the states and rarely see these posts but I always shake my head at any religious or political status updates and find it hard to resist to commenting my mind.

    • Seiche says:

actually i blocked a few ppl from the US because of that and I live in Germany

    • echolocation says:

Are you saying that no one outside of the US blocks people in their news feed because they get sick of preachy posts? Wow, I’m not sure if that’s implying advanced civilization or not. I do it all the time, but I’m from the US, although I don’t see any of my friends from outside of the US finding it any more appealing to be barraged with that on a daily basis. In addition it’s always from someone that I have to resist the urge to troll based on their non-facebook posted behavior.

  3. 3DSarge says:

Also applies to any Farm/Mafia/Vampire/Cafe/Septic Sucking game requests

  4. tigerfan says:

I guess posts about taking a dump is more of what people want to read about.

  5. RobinJ6 says:

Also applies to posts of “I HATE MY LYF Y CANT EVRY1 JST GO DIE”

    • Anna says:

And endless updates about work: going to work, being at work, coming home from work, being on-call from work and wondering what to do with days off from work.

    • Palmer says:

      DEFINITELY applies to that.
Sick of everyone putting their bedroom-personal bleeding heart crap all over their Facebook.

      • SuperRound says:

I have a friend on facebook who literally updates her status every ten minutes… it’s like facebook is her diary, everytime i open it up on my phone the newsfeed is full of her spam it’s awful T_T

        • echolocation says:

Hide her in your newsfeed, then visit her page if you want to know what’s going on. I am fortunate enough to only have one friend who does that crap all the time. And because of her retarded relationship habits, it’s just…..sigh. I also do this to people who frequently use “Ugh” as a way to begin/end a sentence. Because it never applies. WHY?! WHY!? “Ugh, I want those shoes ;D” Makes NO SENSE. Please, my beloved friend, go die in a fire now.

      • Earthworm says:

That’s right, its a lot easier to just ignore anything bad that happens to other people, as long as it doesn’t happen to us it doesn’t matter.

  6. Dizzy says:

See also “Study reveals Facebook use increases exponentially with number of useless status updates”.

  7. mickchaaya says:

i found that ive been blocked for quoting funny one liners from various sources.

  8. cheekyezme says:

na i dont have those people on my facebook anymore! blocked!!! no wait… not blocked just hiden so i can still go and perv at there page if i wanna but dont have to put up with the mind numbing rubbishness that is there lifes!! SORTED!!

    • Me says:

I tried hiding a friend`s page, because I couldn`t stand the politcal/religious BS anymore… I couldn`t refrain from perving on their page and writing REALLY sarcastic comments, so in the end I had to just block them. I have no self control :(

      • echolocation says:

I just assume they know how I am, and let it roll. I’m sure I’m blocked from many a newsfeed for this. And it kind of makes me laugh/cry on the inside.

  9. Daniel says:

Yep. Say what you really think and you’ll lose some friends.

    • Aaron A. says:

It’s not about saying what you think. I, for one, am fine with hearing peoples’ well-considered opinions, especially if the person is open to honest, friendly, constructive discussion. What I find annoying is when people use their Facebook status for copy-n-paste activism, faux-inspirational stories, urban legend health scares, or to jump aboard the latest moral outrage. Then, of course, there are the people who suddenly become a lot braver and more opinionated when they sit behind a keyboard.

    • jjmblue7 says:

There’s a difference between saying it and spamming it, though. Talking about a particular “srs” topic once or twice is fine, but when the person keeps going on about it, likely frequently, it gets annoying, even when the reader agrees.

  10. Aeode M says:

I know some people have “hidden” me for posting antiracism-articles and such. Don’t really care.

  11. Evil Fred says:

All my friends on FB post religious and political stuff all the time. Mind you, we are all over 50. The once person I blocked is an arrogant bastard who just has to post something (he thinks) amusing on EVERY post by his friends. No need to block the friends with the games – just block the games.

    • invisible commenter says:

I dunno… sometimes blocking/hiding people due to games is necessary. One of my fb friends is on the verge of this because she has been on a two-week long crusade against people who cheat on FarmVille. She warns all her friends every.single.day. that if she finds any of them on a list of cheaters she will remove them, and as much as I don’t want to fire you guys I want to leave items for my REAL friends, and sorry, that’s just the way I play the game… *headdesk*

Sometimes she mixes it up with the rant about how polite farmers click “like” when accepting news feed bonuses.

      Every day.

      • Evil Fred says:

True, that. Social feed and games feed are (should be) two different areas.

      • echolocation says:

LOL! When I was playing games my friends were all very aware that I had a couple of sockpuppets to help me. I HATED the fact that they required friends in order to play them. I don’t like asking people for stuff in real life, let alone for a stupid game that I’m just playing to pass the time.

    • chi chi says:

If I make reference to a friend of mine as “arrogant bastard” I don’t think he/she would be on my list of friends actually!!!

  12. Blah says:

    This is so annoying.

The only thing I hate more than politics is people discussing politics. I would be friends with more people if they would just stop talking about these 2 things.

  13. LeftofCentre says:

Politics matter. Your Farmville does not. I’d rather see people engaged in religious or political debate than that video of the monkey peeing in his own mouth again.

  14. Mike says:

    Or posts about Twilight.

    • Kat says:

I think most people are pretty much done with Twilight anyway. They’ve all moved on to insulting thirteen year old girls who can’t sing. Then again, I just insulted her…

  15. Jacinto Bruh says:

This is true, unless every single person you know shares the same beliefs as you. So yeah, pretty much impossible.

    • Aeode M says:

Of course not. I’m a supporter of Palestina and I’ve deliberately added some Israel-supporters to my friend list (deliberately because I don’t know them for anything else – we got into a Palestina-Israel discussion online). It’s so interesting to have a look inside someone else’s thoughts. Just talking with people who share your beliefd will make you arrogant and narrow-minded.

      • echolocation says:

Nicely said. I added someone after a flame-war that entailed him finally admitting that his views were “Nazi-esque”. I WISH it weren’t so tl;dr because it is great fodder for this site. And would probably inspire another delightful flame war. Sorry, my point is pretty much what you said. I like to have open debates.

  16. I don’t see that religion has anything to do with blocking someone. I think application invites and endless link posts are what annoy me the most.

  17. Art Radio says:

    Well duh!

  18. Tipsy_the_Drunken_Fairy says:

Probably also applies to complaining in your status update, posting three or more status updates in a day, commenting/liking anything posted by someone you haven’t seen IRL since high school…

  19. britheflyersguy says:

Or constantly commenting on sporting events, LIKE I DO!

  20. Akropolis says:

Also applies to people who post song lyrics for every status because they think they apply to their life.

  21. Pols Voice says:

    One tends to wonder…

If we can’t be happy and post excited posts about some exciting plans,
If we can’t be sad and post a depressed post about something bad going on in our lives,
If we can’t be thoughtful and post some song lyrics,
If we can’t be desperate and post a cry for help,
If we can’t be angry and post a bunch of nonsense curses,
If we can’t be so in love that we post how much we love someone,
If we can’t get drunk and post a completely unintelligible status,
If we can’t be preachy and post our opinion on something,
If we can’t be sheep and post chain-statuses,
If we can’t be boring and post what we’re currently doing,

What do you WANT our statuses to say?

    • twirlz says:

It’s not so much that you can’t post any of those things…but its about how often you post a specific type of thing. If someone does a chain status once in a while, its amusing. I might even join them. If ALL their statuses are chain statuses, and they are posting daily or more? I’m probably going to block them from my newsfeed.

Same goes for ones that are tmi about babies and their bowel movements. Those people get blocked quickly if that’s the majority of their posts.

    • Christopher, the one of many says:

      I tend to answer…

That’s what private messaging is for.

That’s fine, but most people abuse that priority.

      That’s not “thoughtful”, that’s pretentious.

Once again, that’s okay, but most people do that over the smallest things.

I do that too, so I can’t fault that.

When you do that, you clog up everyone’s news feeds.

You end up making a complete ass out of yourself when you do that.

I’m all for free speech, but no one wants to hear that.

      That’s annoying as hell.

      That’s what Twitter is for.

    • Kat says:

Are you really being thoughtful if we’re posting someone else’s words?

  22. Andrew says:

    …uh…these Axies aren’t labeled…

  23. Team Joe Walker says:

I’d honestly rather read post about politics than the crap I usually see.
