  1. Zombie Survival says:

Thank goodness Conlin was there to save her the effort.

  2. Chadwick McDouchington III says:

    Well played.

    • Kuroro says:

And yet he’s wrong… gravity is the force with which 2 objects with mass are attracted to each other, it isn’t earth-specific

      • Mitch says:

Damn, I was about to point that one out!

Then again, it’s about relativity isn’t it, lay speaking people would have it that the Earth is the only important thing to humans involving a strong enough gravity to be of concern. We know in fact that all objects of mass have gravity.

        • Kuroro says:

Lol i think the sun is pretty important too, its gravity makes the earth go around it and causes the seasons and the moon which causes the tide

and if by important you mean “big enough force to take into account”, then the center of the milky way too

          • Kuroro says:

Either way, when defining gravity, it shouldn’t be earth-specific :P

            • Jane says:

Either way, you’re on a comedy website..

              • mr smartass says:

Actualy he is right … gravity as Newton told is wrong, it only applies to earth . If you shoot a rocket to the other end of the galaxy, with Newton’s law, you would miss. So as most people don’t know that is wrong, the definition of word it self is correct.

                • sas says:

*That’s* why all those homemade rockets of mine don’t make it to the other end of the galaxy!

                • st0815 says:

That’s complete nonsense, sorry. Newton’s law is a great approximation for most cases, not just on earth. By the same token: Relativity allows more accurate calculation of gravitational attraction on earth and elsewhere.

What he says is correct, but it’s not a suitable definition of the term.

                • Drowzor says:

Wasn’t Newton’s law only about gravity on earth and not about Gravity in the galaxy/universe?

                • Lytrigian says:

Depends on what you mean, smartass. If you were to shoot a rocket at the other side of the galaxy using Newton’s Laws, you’d as close as could be expected given how accurately we’re likely able to aim given the distance, and possible unknown masses along the way. Nothing is moving all THAT fast.

It’d take forever at non-relativistic velocities — but at this point they’d be relativistic perforce. We can’t accelerate a large mass to relativistic speeds yet. It’d take a very long time even at c though — the galaxy is about 100,000 light-years across.

                  • Ulfur says:

The Milky Way Galaxy is about 150,000 light-years across.
Given where we are positioned, I would say that it would take about… 50-75 thousand light years

                • anony mouse says:

other side of the galaxy… how can you define it as having 2 separate sides? you could take a tangent off a hundred meters away and say that you’re on the “other side” of the galaxy.

          • Monki says:

Check the first definition here. Thats where I got it.

            http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/gravity

            • Lottia says:

              gravity (grāv’ĭ-tē) Pronunciation Key
The fundamental force of attraction that all objects with mass have for each other. Like the electromagnetic force, gravity has effectively infinite range and obeys the inverse-square law. At the atomic level, where masses are very small, the force of gravity is negligible, but for objects that have very large masses such as planets, stars, and galaxies, gravity is a predominant force, and it plays an important role in theories of the structure of the universe. Gravity is believed to be mediated by the graviton, although the graviton has yet to be isolated by experiment. Gravity is weaker than the strong force, the electromagnetic force, and the weak force. Also called gravitation . See more at acceleration, relativity.

From the same source. Nonscience answers are nonsense

        • skeptic says:

Relativity? That was a Newtonian description, I believe. If you want the Relativity definition it’s probably something like “The bending of space around massive objects, which causes other objects or light to appear to be attracted to them” or something like that.

        • Lytrigian says:

          That’s not what relativity means.

      • Luke says:

I thought they trended to the center of gravity (which, granted, is the point in thr middle of the line connecting them, when there are only 2 objects)

      • Tepi says:

        Nope, you are defining gravitATION.

        Gravity is Earth-specific, gravitation isn’t.

  3. Quicky says:

its funny because its troll :p

  4. Wazi says:

Haha Kuroro nice to see someone else with a decent understanding of physics ^_^

  5. skeptic says:

Does anybody have a clue as to what she really meant?

  6. thedarkinoelle says:

    hahaha wicked fail.

  7. boo257 says:

gravity just needs to the heck

  8. TrekkieChick says:

GREAT taste in musicals, bad spelling.

    • Siirenias says:

      What are you talking about?

Defying gravity is often related to various airborne tricks related to skiing, skating, skateboarding, ect.

      • logico says:

He’s correct. It’s the spelling. I think he was supposed to say ‘defying gravity’. It’s a song in the musical,Wicked.

  9. mathelete says:

Wrong definition. It is not always the Earth being one of the objects

  10. rafnem says:

You guys need to the heck

  11. JC says:

Wow its just a joke, why are u all so worried about what the true definition of gravity is…its a comedy site

  12. Tin Can says:

That was probably the iPod Touch spell checker. It really possess the he’ll out of me.

  13. Carlos says:

    WTF???!!

((((Put Your Hands Up For Mexico !!!!!!!!!))))

  14. rafnem says:

I knew I was sure when I said that you guys need to the heck..

  15. Im a 12 years old troll. says:

I don’t get it whats this?

  16. sigh says:

    it’s DEFYING gravity…not defining gravity….
….idiots…if you care so much about the show, get it right…

  17. arden says:

either way its a fail because the song is called “Defying Gravity”. dumbass facebooker >.<

  18. Ergle says:

Serious about tuning your guitar aboard the ISS? You regard with high gravity the act of adjusting gravity in micro-gravity.

  19. Murasaki says:

Can’t I make you understand? You’re having delusions of Webster.

  20. Chibzi says:

Actually the song is called Defying Gravity >.<

  21. Daph. says:

    Elphaba: “I think I’l tryyy… defining gravityyy…” *grabs a dictionary*
People of Oz: “Look at her, she’s wicked! Get her!”
    Elphaba: ô_O

  22. TommoMo says:

LMAO!! That actually me choke laughing!!!

  23. Daph. says:

I think I’ll try denying gravity.

  24. Smithers says:

DEFINING GRAVITY – Elphaba feat. Al Einstein

Something has changed within me /
Something is not the same /
I’m through with following the laws of Newton, cuz they’re lame /
    It’s time for second-guessing /
    It’s time for clarity /
You know I’m talking about /
    Re-la-ti-vi-ty /

    It’s time to try /
    Defining Gravity /
    I think I’ll try /
    Defining Gravity /
And that’s what pulls me down! /

    I’m through accepting limits /
    As they approach infinity /
The lengths of time and space /
    Defined by relativity! /

    Masses attract each other /
In ways we’ve never cared /
    Now I think I understand that /
    E equals M C squared! /
    I’d sooner cry: /
    I’m defining gravity! /
    You know that I /
    Am defining gravity! /
Cuz that’s what keeps me down!

  25. teh d00che says:

Spartans, tonight we’re all dining in gravity!

  26. Rachel says:

Maybe if they listen EXTRA carefully, they could hear the real lyrics.
But it’s kind of hard to hear with all the people correcting the person.

  27. FemmeNatale326 says:

This is a case of misheard lyrics. The song title is Defying Gravity. I recommend against trying that out.

  28. Rose says:

The fail here made my Wicked-loving heart bleed a little. :(
