Aunt is not necessarily blood relation, could be the wife of a blood related Uncle, if that the case technically there is nothing wrong with that, just frowned upon…
I think the uncle in question might do a little more than simply frown upon it.
If you’re referring to the aunt, the uncle in question had better be doing a lot more than frowning upon it, or else it’s no wonder she’s going to her nephew.
i know this is not a reason relevent to the poster, but in some Native American tribes, it could just be someone close to the family
A lot of people’s parent’s best friend is referred to as ‘aunt’, although I don’t think he’d say “I wish you weren’t my aunt” if this was true.
True, in some cultures you call pretty much anybody who’s old enough to be your parent “Aunty” or “Uncle” just to be polite (outside of business contexts). Which can be hazardous with women if they think they’re not old enough to qualify as “aunty”. I don’t even dare call people “granny” unless they’re like 100.
