  1. I thought this was pretty cute.

The text and who was typing kind of messed with my mind. It seemed a bit off.

    Still cute though.

  2. The Chaz says:

Makes me wonder how many of the ladies are too overwhelmed by my glory to tell me how they feel :\

  3. Nory says:

    LOL! i love it xD

  4. poopydoopy says:

cute but sad, sad but true ;(

  5. dubbleyew says:

i just told a co-worker that they were a lazy, unproductive, arrogant, incompetant and selfish waste organs… felt good.

  6. Ashley says:

… am i the only one who doesn’t get it?

  7. Samantha says:

Does anyone notice that the windows are backwards. That James is talking to James and Jane is talking to Jane? A Fail in a Fail!

  8. You_Betcha says:

This is amazing! And the timing is awesome, because I have a first date tonight, so maybe this will give me some confidence :) )

  9. lallie says:

That was awesome. Shame man, so cute. I can totally relate. I’ve done that.

  10. Slothman says:

Could you have shown me this like a month or 2 ago? :(

  11. juggles says:

lol at you wont regret it tho. fo’ shizz

  12. blexmer says:

cute, but to bad it is obviously faked (outside of the fact that most people are not likely to be recording their screens).
still, rather priceless. i dont do that often, but when i do…… XD

    • Umm says:

Is it trying to pass itself off as a real conversation? No! It’s a movie that was created to prove a point.

    • Mina says:

I know that the internet is a confusing place filled with anonymous and unknown sources, however….

Not everyone is trying to trick you. Think less “photo-shopped” and more “artistic license”. It was a cute little film with a powerful little message, that’s all it’s trying to be.

  13. Duke says:

This nicely demonstrates why text conversations are so pointlessly banal, I think. Very cute.

    • AshleyB says:

It isn’t just text conversations that are like that. People never say exactly what they’re thinking at all times. If they did it’d end badly.
There are some things that should be kept to ourselves, but people have gotten into the habbit of being afraid of rejection, so they don’t put themselves out there so they don’t get rejected.

  14. danifilth says:

    totally great <3 thanks!

  15. poopmaster says:

Whoever made this up messed up in the very beginning. They typed “hey james” and backspaced but it was directed at Jane. More like hey Lames.

  16. Nathan says:

Too true, but how come when Jane sent a message, it came up in James’s screen as being from James??

  17. ewon says:

did anyone notice at the beginning james wrote “oh hey james” but anyway great vid sucks that, that happened though but i can relate

    • Cow Pie says:

James didn’t write “oh hey james” – JANE wrote “oh hey james” TO James in Facebook chat. The window says “James” because that is who Jane is talking to. Log into Facebook and open up a chat window.

  18. Kal says:

Cant help but laugh at the “you won’t regret it” bit. I’ve just got the image of thousands of Failbook browsing nerds getting rejected by the girl they like in high school.

    • Yep says:

      I /guarantee/ you’ll regret it.

    • Sea Marie says:

Oh come on. It’s not saying to go and ask the girl (or guy) out right now. It’s just saying to be a little more open with how you feel. Actually sharing bits of your life with someone is so much more worth it than this sad little so-called conversation.

I’ll concede that you might regret asking a girl out and getting rejected. But you won’t regret getting in the habit of making things clear with other people. Yes, you’ll get hurt. But people aren’t perfect and getting hurt is part of life. The relationships that do work out (friendly or romantic) will be worth it.

  19. Catflap says:

    That was so funny :-)

  20. Ninjapwn says:

I’m surprised FB chat didn’t crash in the middle of that..

  21. roflcopter says:

They mess up right at the beginning and have james type “oh hey james”

    stupid.

    • roflmao says:

James is typing on the right side. He is speaking to Jane, who is typing on the left side. Naturally he has Jane’s picture and name on his screen. You are looking at it as if when you type to someone, you are starring at your own picture and name, which is not the case.

    • britbrat20 says:

Yeah that messed me up for the rest of it..

      • megatron992 says:

Actually, on most chat programs, including Facebook chat, the name of the person you’re talking to appears in the header of the chat box, as well as their profile picture. What Jane is typing is on the left, and James is on the right.

  22. d says:

    yes i will regret it

  23. Brian E. says:

    This was stupid.

  24. Queenofmuffins says:

It seemed a bit off.. what James said came up under “Jane”? And when they typed in the Jane box, the James box had the “busy writing” icon… still, pretty cute! ^^

  25. Mynameisthis says:

….a guy talking to himself?….hmmmmm…i dont think its cute or funny…i think is kinda…WEIRD….

  26. anonymous says:

you all are stupid. it’s who you’re TALKING TO that’s shown, not who you are

  27. Sarah says:

This takes me back to high school when everyone I knew was on AOL and we’d have these exact conversations on AIM.

  28. Vel says:

We all know this happens – logically, I mean. It’s sort of obvious, of course. Something I’ve wanted to change – I want to be able to speak my mind instead of second guessing every word I write. Seeing it happen in this manner, though, somehow made it a more solid concept. Strange what a simple video can do sometimes.

  29. Muneera says:

It really works. It’s how I got my husband. We had emailing eachother for weeks and I just mailed him that I loved him. We’re happily maried now

  30. Paul says:

I probably would regret telling someone how I feel…may end up in prison..

  31. bob says:

    Too long, didn’t watch.

  32. Corporate Whore says:

I do not believe this to be true. Both James and Jane appear to have the same thoughts, misspellings, and reverted the same thoughts at the same time. Hmm, they both recorded the video too and then stapled it together in this nice video? I find that impossibly hard to believe.

Mythbuster’s have proved this myth to be a fail, even for failbook.

  33. Anon says:

…………………..Okay guys, stop saying “It’s so obviously faked” already. It’s not supposed to be real, it’s just demonstrating what often does happen on facebook chat.

  34. Captain says:

    “You wont regret it”?

I see regret on this page daily.
    That’s why it’s “FAILbook”.

  35. Janeane says:

    fake and gay

  36. ow says:

Oh, you guys are sooo clever! Now I have to get my nose reset, and deal with this stupid restraining order. fml

  37. Anonymous says:

I think this is supposed to be cute/convey a message, not be real.

  38. one of the few who understood says:

Seriously? Sometimes you have to actually read/watch to get what it wants you to get. This isn’t about real or fake. It’s about getting the message across. Which obviously, most of you didn’t.

This comments page got a lot more fail than the actual.

  39. suckstobeme says:

i did, and i do regret it, the person i told my feelings to dont feel it back…

  40. tehgheysauce says:

That was painful to watch and now I regret staying till the end.

  41. ewon says:

hmm… correct me if im wrong but i have to call “FAKE AND GAY” cuz how did the person see both sides of the convo i think that this person just wanted attention on a popular website

  42. DanceyDance says:

So did anyone else notice when they start typing, that in each window it says their own names and not the other person’s names?

Like when “James” was typing it showed up as “Me” and yet in the same window the other person was listed at “James” when it’s supposed to be Jane?

(I know this isn’t real, but it looks wrong)

    • Surrounded by idiots says:

It isn’t. When you chat with someone on Facebook, THEIR name shows up at the top and bottom of the window. Therefore, the chat window on the left that says “James” is on “Jane’s” computer and visa versa.

  43. Amanda says:

hahaa story of my life. I’d tell Luke i love him, but apparently he’s too over me to care. his loss.

  44. Scott says:

I wish a girl could love me :(

  45. GJJ says:

Whahaha especially on chat i’m more open…

  46. Asami says:

Am I the only one who can’t relate to this at all?

    • Duke says:

So you’ve never had any unspoken feelings for anyone ever?

      • Asami says:

I always try my best to be honest. There are ways to express what you’re thinking without completely embarrassing yourself, but it’s a skill the two people in this video lack. I just can’t relate. It’s not that hard to tell a friend you’re interested in them, I’ve done it. If you get rejected then you get rejected; I hate “games” like “let’s guess what the other person is thinking,” ugh.

  47. Sortech says:

LIES! I told the Girl i love how i felt about her, but she told her best friends, and one of them is my current GF and it turns out that the other friend AND the girl i love’s sister likes me too, and long story short we had a threesome.. But it was WITHOUT the Girl i love, and WITHOUT my current GF, and now she broke up with me and the girl i love thinks i’m a manhoe. FML.

  48. Errrrrrmmmm says:

I don’t understand this at all.. Someone fully explain, please.

    • Giggidy says:

You could just read the…Oh never mind you’re obviously too lazy.

It’s trying to show how teenagers that like each other usually talk on Facebook chat, deleting how they really feel and sending some bland “that’s cool” comments. This video was made from the point of view of a girl and a guy that obviously like each other, and you can tell from the comments they’re deleting, but they both delete the comments that say how they really feel, and just send stuff like “so what’s up” and “cool”

  49. Tygr says:

Sweet jumpin’ Jeebus, NO! You NEVER tell someone else how you feel about them. Lesson for the kids: ALWAYS keep your emotions guarded. Reason being, 99.99% of everyone else couldn’t give a rat’s ass about your feelings. The more you try to share them, the more you’ll become convinced that the way you feel doesn’t matter, because that’s what you’ll be told, by either the other’s ambivalence, apathy, hostility or derision of your feelings.

The slow awkward dance performed in the above video exists for a reason. It gets performed a million times a day world wide because the human is a social animal that hates every other human, except those that don’t hate it. And the only way to determine who doesn’t hate you is through these sorts of veeeery oblique exchanges. If you’re lucky, you’ll find someone who can stand to be around you for more than five minutes.

    • aww says:

      *tries to hug you*
      *you pull away in anger*
      *tries to hug you again*
*you hug back and silently and secretly start crying*
*pats you on the back and says it’s okay*

  50. stef says:

it made me want to puke.

  52. Rob says:

Most people have the attention span of goldfish, and the reading skills of a turtle. If they haven’t figured out it was supposed to be a film, and not a real life activity, you can’t help them. Pity their parents.. or pity them for their parents, and move on.

  53. Alexa Marie says:

You know what the biggest fail about this video is? Both of these ‘people’ are talking to themselves.. didn’t you notice Jane/Me came up in Jane Smith’s chatbox and James/Me came up in James Kurtroth’s chatbox?

  54. Kmac says:

Am I the only one that notice that they messed up the names big time in the chat. When James typed something he showed up as me on his chat(which is correct) but showed up as Jane in jane’s chat. Then Jane’s comments showed up under the name james in james’s chat. I like the idea for the video but I hate when people mess up small details and that bugged me the whole video.

  55. Taylor says:

Omg! It was so cute, but made me wonder how many times that has happened to the point of not getting the guy/girl…

  56. Whatever you say x3 says:

    That was cute :3

  57. Ziggykat says:

Lame. Yes I know it was fake. It was still lame. They should have thrown an anti-drug message in there somewhere too.

  58. Roxy says:

Umm… you most certainly will regret it if you are in a long term relationship and you tell your crush how gorgeous he is lol

  59. Trina says:

    uugghh… Been there.. =\

  60. Chuck says:

ahahaha, the names were backwards from the msg boxes lol

  61. Gracey says:

Why is one half of the internet population so incredibly stupid?
