Only person I know named Jamie is a girl. Of course it may be Jami without an e, but I thought it was a girls name too. Then again I do have an uncle named Kelly, who has a daughter named Kelly.
Jamie, Jaime, and the rest of the variations of the name, are among a list of unisex names, meaning this post could swing either way. Doesn’t detract from the original fail though.
Wait, at what point did she claim to be speaking about this from a feminist perspective?
I’m a feminist – and not those sissy “but you know, not like a REAL feminist” ones, either – and I despise the trend of turning traditionally male names feminine such as with Jamie, or more recently with names like Mackenzie or Emerson. I think it sends the wrong message – these names are often seen as strong or spirited. In feminism, Elizabeth can be just as strong as William. I don’t think women should have to act like or take on the roles of men to be viewed as “strong” but should instead be able to make choices outside the narrow gender roles we’re restricted to. I also detest the way that when a name such as Ashley or Jamie – traditionally male – becomes perceived as feminine it suddenly becomes less “appropriate” to use for little boys. The message is clearly “it’s okay for girls to be boyish – this is good – but boys should not be girlish – this is bad.” The overall statement is that something is inherently wrong with being female, which there is not.
See, that is what a feminist view point on the gendering of names looks like.
Hilary is also a male name… Dr Hilary Jones.
Both Hilary and Jamie are unisex names in MODERN terms, just like Billy/Billie is a unisex name in modern terms although started off as a pet name for William.
But by the outline of this picture, I’d say Hilary was a girl.
WIN.
Her original statement still was a fail though
How was it a fail? Do you not like showers?
Treated.
LOL. Jamie must be one ugly chick then.
And you’re sure the person is a chick.
i think jamie was the guy………..
can be jaime(spanish name)
Only person I know of called Jamie is a guy. Sort of. :p

Jamie usually is a nickname of someone named James. Well it is here, anyway.
Nickname for James is generally Jim or jimmy, most jamies I know are girls.
Its both male and female. My borther-in-law is a jamie, as is a girl i work with.
I know both males and females called Jamie. For the guys it’s normally a nickname and for grrrls it’s her real name.
I have met several male Jamies, never a female Jamie though. I know they are out there… but where?!?!?!
I’m a male Jamie!
I think Hilary is a girl’s name, and Jamie is a boy. At least where I live Hilarys are girls, and Jamies are boys.

I am a female Jamie. As defined in the baby book Jamie is the female form of James.
So technically females should only be called Jamie.
Sorry bad wording
*only females should be called Jamie. Not males.
Tell that to my husband.
Hey, what about me? Just because I cook doesn’t mean I’m a female!
I love how feminists combat sexism with sexism. It’s like striving for equality by saying you’re better than everyone else.
Jamie can be a name for men or women. I personally know two guys named Jamie and no girls with that name.

Tell that to The Hyneman.
Finally, someone mentions Mythbusters. I’ve never actually heard of any girls named Jamie.
Gender identification fail. *facepalm*
While some Jamis are female (like myself & Jami Gertz), a lot of Jamies are boys.
There’s a difference between Jamie and Jaime, although it’s best to exercise caution in either case.
Also a difference between Jaime and J’aime
Summer Heights High!
Win!
There’s also “Jayme”, I know of one woman who spells her name this way.
PWNED.
It was a nice try.
That was sure Hilary-ous!
This was fail.
this wasn’t funny
I dunno. Had she encouraged him, it would’ve been Jamie grinning on the doorstep with a bath towel and rubber duckie in hand…
rubber duckie makes bath time so much fun
D’awwww poor Jamie.. I’m shocked at Hilary for not being charmed by that subtle a pickup line
Oh yeah, anyone would go for THAT… It would definitely work on me in an instant ;P
Just because she doesn’t wanna shower with Jamie (or maybe has showered with Jamie once and didn’t enjoy it)? :/
I think it’s a coverup. Hilary is in a relationship with Jamie (whatever their gender), and doesn’t want it known over the intarwebz.
Wow, you’re an idiot.
I have a friend who’s a girl and her name is Jaime. I think that way you spell it for guys is Jamie and for girls Jaime.
That’s some cold water to the face.
PWND!

like a boss .
Unlike silence, that was not golden
