the fail being Jim, not Lauraa. what an idiot/jerk. thouhg, TBH, the title proably counts too.

  2. SprinkleDits says:

    HA!

I know i shouldnt be laughing but i am really giggling at the title.

  3. Felix says:

I make fun of fat people all the time, and I really don’t get how this is meant to be funny :/ It’s not offensive, but it’s not funny, either.

  4. Fat says:

    Lol

I know I’m a bad person and that most people will probably hate me for saying this but that Jim guy is made of Win.

Seriously, that was a Killer comeback right there.

And, TBH, He is probably right too.

  5. Cincin says:

Everybody’s got a water buffalo. Yours is fast but mine is slow. Oh, where we get them, I don’t know, but everybody’s got a water buffalo!

  6. malkatz says:

“It doesn’t matter how often you tell a girl how cool her name is, or that the second ‘a’ at the end of their name is normal. If it gets called pointless once, it kills their self-esteem.”

  7. youralcoholicdad says:

For all you people who think insulting fat people is wrong, we criticise and insult people who smoke because of what they are doing to themselves and theyre, why is it not ‘socially acceptable’ to tell a fat person theyre fat and need to eat more healthily?

    • Jane says:

Do you think you’re just smarter than everyone else, or?

First of all, people biatch about smoking because it reeks up public areas.

It’s not like heavy people don’t know it’s not good for them, just like you don’t need to tell a smoker that it’s bad for them. I think everyone knows that cheeseburgers make you fat and cigs are bad for your lungs.

A fat person is already going to know they’re fat and often already has bad enough social anxiety that the only thing you’ll accomplish by saying something is to discourage them/make them depressed. The only reason for you to say something about it is to make them feel bad.

Also, it’s never socially acceptable to tell strangers what to do with their lives/bodies. Just sayin.

      • LilRedHen says:

        Well said.

      • Anonyminous says:

…Says the person “biatching” about smoking…

      • I Love 420 says:

smoking reeks up public areas, true. But fat people take up public space and sometimes need two seats on the airplane.

      • Aaron T says:

Cheeseburgers don’t make you fat. Excessive eating makes you fat. A fat person that got that way by eating deserves no pity and have no right to request people to not tell them they are fat. Its their own damn fault and if people want to call them fat they should.

Its like calling someone who does dumb stuff all the time stupid.

        • Chocaholic says:

But have you ever seen people in wheel chairs who are fat? Maybe they were f***ing skinny before and they were active and ate normal food, but once they got their legs or whatever paralyzed they ate exactly the same wait and had a hard time losing wait, cuz, well, wheelchair basketball is HARD. Also, you’re saying that it’s perfectly acceptable to yell rude things at people in public. Pathetic beeyotch.

      • A girl says:

LOL people like you suck. Youre fat too

    • You go to hell and you die says:

Not to mention, you f#@king idiot, that not everyone who is overweight eats unhealthily. I’ll bet you ate 3x what I did in high school–why do I know I’ll win? Because I went months at a time without eating, for fear of a$$holes like you commenting that my sandwich made me fat. So I just didn’t eat. I gained 4 dress sizes not eating. So f#@k you and the horse you rode in on.

Also, go read some REAL research on healthy weight (although you’re probably too biased, bigoted and stupid to do so) http://haescommunity.org/

      • Anonyminous says:

Being stupid and caring what other people think is THEIR fault? Last time I checked, that’s all on YOU.

I have no problem with “diseases” like alcoholism or drug addiction, but I’m with the Great Carlin on this one,

        “Rich c*nt don’t wanna eat? F**k her.”

        • Adrian says:

          Here, here.

        • marusa says:

          woooooo!

        • Bookworm says:

Eating disorders are real mental disorders caused by people like all of you. someone gets ragged on for being overwieght and so they either binge and purge or they quit eating all together. Oh and by the way it is a cultural phenomenon that started when what is considered beautiful became so damn restrictive, also no matter where you go if you go out to eat, your dinner is twince the size it should be. And scientifically overweight people have a incredibly hard time losing weight because of the way fat cells work they perform mitosis so whatever fat you eat is doubling itself which means if you eat 100 calories to lose weight you have to burn over 200 calories, and the fatter one gets the fat cells divide more often and faster. So there are fat people who are working their asses off to be fit and eating healthy but its not showing any results. . .this is all scientific of course so most of you will disregard because you can’t understand it.

          • SallyStruthers85 says:

This is all well and good except for at one point in their life, they had to gain all of that weight to begin with….its not like they were born with it, or woke up one morning and it was there, its a gradual build up, one that is most certainly noticeable. Even with disorders that make it difficult for people to stay a healthy wieght, or even make a person gain excess wieght its still possible to maintain that healthy weight if you approach your diet and excercise correctly, for anybody. Yes, this would be difficult to do as a child, but this is were the parents should step in and regulate the diet and excercise…instead you see 200 lb 8 y/o’s eating entire bday cakes on springer… So at one point in a fat persons life they said f-it, i will eat what I want, how much i want and not excercise, and did this for an extended enough amount of time to gain all the excess wieght. So even with your scientific proof, it still comes down to self control, which it’s apparent fit people have, and fatties dont or at least didn’t for a period in their lifetime.

“Oh and by the way it is a cultural phenomenon that started when what is considered beautiful became so damn restrictive”….Beauty is in the eye of the beholder my friend, just because you conform to what celebrities and fashion magazines view as beautiful, doesn’t mean we all do.

            • Audra says:

“it still comes down to self control, which it’s apparent fit people have, and fatties dont or at least didn’t for a period in their lifetime.”

Bullsh*t. It’s called metabolism. I’ve seen skinny people eat like sh**e and they don’t care either, but their bodies quickly burn up the fat instead of storing it. It chafes my ass when people assume that skinnies are healthy or better have self-control just because they’re not fat.

Also, imagine this, some women’s bodies are built to start putting on weight when they reach the child-bearing years (puberty). The added poundage has nothing to do with food.

              • SallyStruthers85 says:

you act like every slender person can eat whatever they want. you’re talking about a small percentage of people that can eat freely and don’t gain wieght, the majority, battle with their wieght. puberty, puts wieght on both bys and girls, you know, getting their bodies ready to grow and mature. Doesnt mean you can’t maintain a healthy wieght.

              • Alaeryn says:

I love everyone here who understands the nuances of these issues. This failbook is not funny, and it perpetuates the awful, hurtful stereotypes and images that make the media and beauty industry billions of dollars. Everyone is beautiful in his or her own way, regardless of size, color, age, etc. When people finally grasp this, the world will be a much better place.

      • I Love 420 says:

maybe you shoulda done that research in high school, and you would have known that NOT eating for a while WILL make you gain weight once you start eating again. Once again…your fault, not anyone elses.

    • jamisings says:

Because smoking is 100% controllable but weight is not. Many people actually have legitimate medical reasons and no matter how healthy they eat or how much they excercise, they’re still going to be fat.

My mom has a friend who was over 400 pounds. She could not lose weight. Narrow minded people – including doctors – would belittle her. Turns out she had a TUMOR on her thyroid. She could be on an island like Tom Hanks in Castaway and STILL would not have lost weight. Heck, they couldn’t even remove the entire tumor, so while she lost a ton, she’ll still never be thin.

Also look up polycystic ovary syndrome and insulin resistance.

Smoking is 100% the smoker’s choice. Being fat isn’t always just a matter of being lazy.

Let’s not forget it’s a proven fact that smoking not only kills the smoker, but both 2nd and 3rd hand smoke kills too. So it’s not only slow suicide, but mass murder. Whereas my fat ONLY hurts ME – unless I trip and fall on a Smurf village.

There’s no such thing as 2nd hand fat.

      • Chocaholic says:

Well, maybe for pregnant fat women who eat too much during pregnancy and have 9 or 10 lb babies, but whatever.

        • Audra says:

Wrong. Genetics partly determine metabolism and I know LOTS of 9 or 10lb babies who grew up to be skinny. The kid will be fat if the parents don’t teach proper eating habits and give the kid soda/candy/cakes all the time. And don’t assume that just because a parent is fat that they don’t teach their kids healthy eating habits.

        • Liz says:

My grandmother gave birth to two nine and one ten pound babies. She wasn’t fat at all and most of the doctors were quite surprised she delivered those babies.

      • Velocistar237 says:

Because we all know everyone who is obese has a medical condition.
Just like how we are to assume every bald person has cancer.

      • SallyStruthers85 says:

ciggerette addiction is compairable to herion addiction…..addicts are considered out of control…hence, once you are a hooked smoker, its not 100% controllable.

Your moms friend who was 400 lbs did not wiegh that much her entire life, nor did she have the tumor in her thyroid her entire life, she gained that much weight until she decided i should probably do something about it….aka, lazy, and her massive weight gain is probably a contributing factor to her tumor (you know, all the stress you put on your body by not taking care of it?) Not to mention you are talking about a disorder that effects 5-10% of women, while obescity effects what…almost half…..yea thats lazy. Also, your proven fact is mostly smear campaigns and propaganda, you should research something before you automatically believe it. Not to say smoking doesnt cause 2nd hand smoke, but its not nearly as detremental as the anti-smoking companies would lead you to believe. In fact in scientific studies, pollens and dust pose more of a threat to your lungs then 2nd hand smoke when you are outside.

And…just to rant….but what irritates me the most is when fat people assume you have a fast metabolism b/c you’re fit or thin….no fatty, i actually care about my apperance, sorry i did something about it before it was a losing battle….so stop thinking im so damn lucky and put down the big mac

        • No one says:

Do you have any idea how a thyroid works?
The fact that the tumor was on her thyroid may tell you that there was something wrong with the thyroid in the first place…

FYI, healthy people get tumors too.

          • *Sigh* says:

            THANK YOU!

A thyroid tumor can NOT be caused by being heavy.

Epic medical knowledge fail SallyStruthers85. EPIC.

            • SallyStruthers85 says:

did you know that 90% of thyroid tumors are benign? Cells from benign nodules do not spread to other parts of the body. And are usually not a threat to life, therefore, with help, you can still maintain a healthy lifestyle. IF she had a Malignant tumor, then yes there is nothing you can do about your wieght, but i thought everyone here already knew that when anyone had malignant nodules they were pretty much a goner. Really? *Sigh* the reasons for cancer are unknown, they only have risk factors. So unless you’re the doctor who is going to cure cancer, you really don’t know what causes it….stress, maybe a risk factor too…EPIC

No one, the thyroid creates hormones that affect the heart rate, body temperature, and energy levels. It also helps maintain the calcium in your blood. Did you forget that there are different treatments and medications for benign tumors??

              • *Sigh* says:

Ms. Sally – no one ever said the person had to have thyroid cancer for a tumor to effect thyroid function.

The thyroid produces thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) which regulate the body’s metabolism as well as other processes. If the creation of these hormones is hindered by – say – a tumor – the metabolism slows, the energy level drops and tissue growth diminishes.

If you want the long version =

                http://www.emedicinehealth.com/thyroid_problems/article_em.htm

Another interesting article on the subject =

                http://thyroid.about.com/cs/dietweightloss/a/losingweight.htm

There is way too much medical evidence to refute this – I have no idea how you can think that a tumor on the woman’s thyroid was caused by being heavy when common medical knowledge would state that the weight gain was a side effect of the tumor.

I’m not saying it was all the tumor’s fault just like people with hypothyroidism don’t have any excuse to be heavy. I would know – I have it – diagnosed – by a doctor. I however don’t look at it as an excuse to be heavy. I work out every day, I eat right and I take my medication. In that way I have managed to start loosing weight.

There are no excuses – only obstacles – it’s just a matter of how you overcome them. You can not blame someone for gaining weight over time though when they had a tumor that nearly stopped their metabolic function. However if she continued to be heavy after the tumor was removed then she has another problem.

If you don’t have this condition it’s hard for you to understand what it’s like to have NO energy to even move much less work out or make healthy meals. Again – no excuse – just an obstacle.

                • SallyStruthers85 says:

wow, you’re one of the acceptions my friend, i applaud you. And I’m happy you see it as it is, a constant uphill battle, but one that can be overcome with perservierence and discipline which is exactly what you are doing. My posts were in know way directed to people like you, or even people like you that haven’t lost any wieght yet. My posts were intended for the ones who complain, yet do nothing.

Please try to understand, I do not think that gaining wieght is what might have caused the tumor, and never suggested it alone had anything to do with the tumor. I am mearly suggesting that the ‘stress’ her body and her mind, dealt with from being over wieght for however long, may have lead, or aided in the creation of the extra cells or the extended life of the cells to form the tumor in the first place. Im not saying this is true or the actual reason, but stress, is still a factor heavily debated in the causes of cancerous cells. And being overwieght, can cause stress.

you are correct, if a tumor was stopping this and its presence was unknown to her, she wouldnt have control over it. I would hope/think thou, if you gained wieght at an accelerated rate, you would see your doctor, but the medical world isnt nearly as perfect as i would like it to be.

…dammit…this is true. The first time i was diagnosed with ADHD was when I was 8, then 4 times after that, 10 years of trying 3 different medictions, 6 years copeing on my own…has lead me to be a 24 y/o who cleeps 5 hours a nite and is fully rested, and cant keep my leg still for more then 30 seconds, lol. SO i guess grasping no energy is something im not really capable of.

                  • *Sigh* says:

Thank you for the compliment – it is an uphill battle – but one I know I can win.

I didn’t always have the drive though – I started out about 120 lbs overweight that I had gained solidly over the course of years and years when finally I woke up and said…wait….there’s something wrong here….I’m not eating terribly and I exercise….why am I still gaining? I’m 5’10″ so I didn’t really notice the slow gain. It took the thought of back surgery and a diagnosis that gave me hope to turn it around for me.

You are so unbelievably lucky to have so much energy – I’m lucky if I can make dinner without wanting a nap lol. I’d imagine that’s not terribly easy either though – never relaxing.

I fight for people with this condition because I know how hard it is but I also know it’s a very common excuse.

      • Fabs says:

Not true! Obesity tends to be genetic, and therefore fatass parents are probably going to produce fatass kids, leaving their diet and exercise completely out of the picture. If I’m to be accused of “mass murder” the fat people should at least take credit for helping to “contaminate the gene pool”.

  8. MsBuzz says:

Because “excuse me miss? being over weight can cause health problems, you should lose weight to be more healthy.” isn’t exactly how things go down.

You can tell someone the health risks over eating can cause. But the part that isn’t “socially acceptable” is harassing them daily.

  9. sdfgyhu says:

Speaking as a person who is overweight, i do not control my weight. many people do, but i have a medical condition. i have been made fun of all my life. it is wrong. do you know how many times i have cried myself to sleep for being made fun of? i lost count.
    would like it?
    No? didn’t think so.
Just because a person is not a toothpick, it DOES NOT MAKE THEM ANY DIFFERENT YOU IDIOTIC CRAP SACKS.
ANYONE WHO MAKES FUN OF SOMEONE FOR APPEARANCE IS A COLD-HEARTED IDIOT WHO HAS NO RESPECT!!!!!!! DO YOU THINK WE LIKE TO CRY EVERY NIGHT?!
SOME OF US DON’T CONTROL OUR WEIGHT, YOU PIECES OF FILTH!!!!

    • asdf says:

I’m fat too, but I don’t cry myself to sleep. Maybe you shouldn’t care what people say :)

      • Chocaholic says:

People who are naturally beautiful/handsome and skinny and perfect always say that because all everyone else does is fawn over them and go “You’re so hot and muscular. You’re so perfect. You’re so great at everything.” They don’t have to deal with being a little more homely, a little more thick.

        • Chocaholic says:

oh sh@t. Wrong comment reply. sorry meant to reply to somethin else.

          • Alaeryn says:

I personally apologize for the people who are being absolute jackasses to you. They’re probably all ugly anyway, which is why they feel the need to pour on the hate. XD

        • SallyStruthers85 says:

Fat… Fat… Fatty Fatty fat fat, fatty fatty fat fat…

      • SallyStruthers85 says:

sdfgyhu, what condition do you have where you cannot excercise or regulate your diet. And how long have you had this condition and how long have you been obese. Stop putting the blame anywhere else then it should be, in your own hands

    • R says:

      shut up fatty

    • ZING! says:

      the caps lock abides.

    • haha says:

Lol ur fat. Put down the fork and step away from the pie!

      • Chocaholic says:

        medical condition f**ktard.

        • SallyStruthers85 says:

medical conditions are a minute percentage of obese people. Of this minority, many ‘medical conditions’ are aquired after the person becomes obese… So, seriously, put down the fork. It really bugs me that people are willing to make so many excuses for just plain laziness, its completely possible for a human being to run 20+ miles straight, marathoners prove it all the time, yet the majority of obese people get winded from climbing 20+ steps, thats plain laziness. FYI, following each of your comments by cursing out anyone who has a different opinion then you just goes to show how “informed” you really are on the subject matter. And how much it clearly pushes your buttons…fatty

          • *Sigh* says:

It’s contradictory and rude to call names when you are telling someone not to call names.

            FYI

            • SallyStruthers85 says:

Thanks! But I never claimed not to be rude, also its pretty clear I was trying to push her buttons….guess i missed and hit yours?

              • *Sigh* says:

No – no buttons pushed here – I was just informing you that you were being contradictory. Hence the “FYI” :)

    • murky says:

^Proof that somehow, there’s always someone takes too much offense to what is on a HUMOR SITE. I’m sure this network has offended lots of other people that can deal with it, so chill out. Laugh a little. Rinse and repeat.

      • marusa says:

        woooooooooooo!

      • Meh says:

It’s true. I’m about 30 lbs overweight, yet I don’t usually go complaining about things like this. Those of you who can’t control your weight, I’m sorry, but this isn’t the place to defend yourself.

      • Chocaholic says:

Oh shut the frick up. This particular failbook was not funny in any way. MEDICAL CONDITION YOU IDIOTIC CRAP SACK.

        • SallyStruthers85 says:

Actually it was pretty damn funny, and the comments following are even more entertaining. So why dont you just quiet down Blob Barker

    • Snoop says:

Get off your HIGH horse, you freakin’ stoner.

  10. duh says:

Yeah, lets harrass and bully everyone until they do whats “socially acceptable”.

    • roarrk says:

      you know, it actually works
I myself used to be a very fat kid, and because the others made fun of me, I lost weight
I’m actually thankful for that, if they didn’t do it, I would be some fat loser

      • duh says:

Yeah, that stuff might work every once in awhile, but too many times the person feels fat and they just go eat more.
Or they don’t want to give in to the people who hurt them.
But to me being fat is a state of mind. If you’re lazy and eat like a pig, you’re a fatty. If you eat right and stuff, I’m not going to make fun of you no matter what your weight is.
Its really stupid sounding but I just can’t put a number on being fat because its different for everybody.
        Congats on your weight loss!

      • itsy says:

        You’ll get fat again :)

  11. Kara says:

@ Jim and youralcoholicdad: It’s “you’re” not “your”. You can always lose weight, but stupid lasts forever, my friends.

    • youralcoholicdad says:

Its a comments section, not an english essay. I write a comment quickly so then I can post it and get on with my life, Im not going to check trivial errors just to please grammar nazis

    • your a fatty and can’t get a date

    • Bookworm says:

      win!!

    • SallyStruthers85 says:

Umm, you’re aware that the human brain can learn and comprehend new things right??….you know, intelligence….making them more knowledgeable then they were before….therefore, stupid isn’t and can’t be forever. Good try thou Kara, you know what a correct saying is? “Stupid is, is stupid does” …you’re already good at practicing that one, why not try using it in your next comment.

  12. Kara says:

Also, people call women “fat” that are not fat at all. If the person is obese then I can understand where you are all coming from with the health issue, but come one. People don’t call other people “fat” to help them, they do it to insult and belittle them. Don’t try to masquerade ignorant immaturity as some good deed.

    • ScreamingDeaf says:

Kara, it’s “come on”, not “come one”. Indeed, stupid lasts forever. You can thank me later.

      • that guy says:

        awwww s**t. i smell pwnage.

      • Kara says:

Actually a typo is obviously different than not knowing the difference between “you’re” and “your”.

        • Wikard of Izz says:

Hello?? If you know the difference between two things then you will type the right one. And it’s “different from” not “different than”. Stupid is for life, not just for Christmas.

          • Chocaholic says:

it can be both, but I’m not takin’ Grammar Nazi Kara’s side. So ironic that a person rants about someone’s comment, than makes a mistake in her own

        • ScreamingDeaf says:

You fail again. It’s not a typographical error because the “e” is pretty far from the “n” on your keynoard (unless you use something else than a qwerty or azerty keyboard wich is almost impossible). What you’ve done is a spelling error, not different than typing “your” instead of “you’re”.

  13. jj says:

Get over yourself! Either you have self esteem or you dont. If you cry yourself to sleep that is your problem; nobody else.
If you are not happy with your body – it is up to YOU to change it. If it is medical then you have to learn to live with it.
    Repeat: Get over it.

    • No one says:

This is actually the most sensible comment on here. I was like “wtf, you get called fat/ugly once and you have no self-esteem. Sounds like the problem is all you!”

  14. KittenDestroyer says:

Fat people are like beavers, they both smell like old broccoli.

  15. *Sigh* says:

Yet another thread about “fat people”…

I’m not sure how this one is a WIN or a FAIL – it just seems kind of meh :\ *shrug*

Being overweight is a struggle that a lot of people face in our society and unfortunately it’s a completely “visible” problem which leads to a number of people (especially on the internet) feeling that it is their place to comment on another person’s life choices.

Being a “healthy weight” does not = Water Buffalo, however you would think so if you compared a healthy weight to what is immediately visible in our society.

A “healthy weight” for a person 5’10″ based on BMI is 150 lbs. However if you look at the average 5’10″ model on the billboards and on screen they typically weigh no more than 120 lbs.

Don’t get me wrong – that’s not bad – I would love to weigh 120 lbs but it’s not for everyone and those that choose to be a healthy 150 lbs are not Water Buffaloes.

I dunno – I’m a heavy person but I am actively in the process of losing weight. I also just recently quit smoking. After having endured both types of scrutiny I think people should really just take a step back and consider their words before deciding to cast judgment on someone else.

You know what they say about people who live in glass houses…

So many fatties getting upset..god, i thought you people were suppose to be Jolly

  17. youralcoholicdad says:

    Zing!!

  18. D says:

Oh, the comebacks from those of weight that I hear all the time. Such as here, “you anorexic piece of cat crap.” Because that’s not hurtful at all either. Not like anorexia is a serious mental illness or anything.

    (The internets. So srs.)

  19. youralcoholicdad says:

LOL I love how everyone on here is getting so worked up by trolls. To the trolls, i congratulate you..

    • youralchoholicnewborn says:

You, good sir, are officially thanked by us trolls at large. I do not presume to speak for all, but I will attempt to speak for most.

  20. DarkStorm2Bad says:

What I picked up on was the killing of self-esteem. What the crap is it with people and letting all the positives slide around and sorta be ignored, and yet if they hear one negative thing, they think “OMG it must be right, I am teh HORRIBELS!!”

    • youralcoholicdad says:

EXACTLY!! And it does go the other way too, if a girl ISNT told shes attractive, she thinks she isnt.. So pretty much no matter how hard we try, noone will feel good about themselves..

      • moo says:

Low self esteem is often blamed on photoshopped images of people as skinny as barbie. Don’t forget that! In fact, I think the media wants us to have low self esteem. Media has gone evil, I tell you!

        • Zuo says:

          I believe you mean ‘marketing.’

        • Tommy Hilfiger says:

If you don’t have low self esteem, you fat, ugly people won’t buy the ineffective new miracle products we come out with every month or spend thousands on the expensive and ultimately useless diet fads we develop. Remember Atkins? We tricked you into making your bodies eat themselves nearly to death! Your misery lines our pockets! Suffer! HAHAHAHAAAAA!!!

      • Chocaholic says:

Says the person who doesn’t try at all, far from it actually…

        • Nasty Butler says:

Jus’ ’cause you don’ ‘ear it, don’ mean it ain’t der, sweetums. Ah t’ink you gots to clean da fat outta yo’ ears.

  21. Hermes says:

I’m tired of hearing that America has an unfair standard of beauty. .5% to 3.7% of women are Anorexic and 1.1% to 4.2% have had Bulimia in America. Over 33% of America is overweight. That’s a hell of a lot more people who are unhealthily overweight, than people who are unhealthily underweight. Why doesn’t the overweight 1/3 stop trying to convince the other 2/3 to lower our health standards, and convince themselves into making healthier life choices. Want to not be called obese? Don’t be obese.

    • Bookworm says:

It is not about the actual numbers in the United States it is about the images in movies and in magazines (especially in magazines). That’s the unhealthy image in America, and different beauty standards have been held at different times rarely has healthy been considered beautiful in major Western cultures (usually it is overweight or underweight that are considered beautiful). So lets start a new revolutiono of getting healthy people to be seen as beautiful.

      • Zuo says:

You forgot to mention healthy people not being photoshopped, so does the revolution count for naught?

      • Hermes says:

My point is that, obviously these “unhealthy” images aren’t having a significant effect on the population with such a high number of people being obese. How is it not about the numbers? We have a huge problem with obesity in America regardless of who is being pictured in magazines. I’m all for having healthy being considered beautiful, but obesity is not healthy, nor is being overweight in general. So since we’re agreeing that healthy is beautiful, you agree that an overweight individual (which is unhealthy) is not.

        • No one says:

By the way, I’m not saying “this is the cause, so stfu -waah”, I’m simply pointing out ONE of the MANY factors that causes a person to be overweight/obese.

          • SallyStruthers85 says:

yes it is a factor, and yes the fashion industries standards are ridiculous and border line criminal. Even thou this person is getting villianized time and time again by society, media, whatever…..it still falls on them to either choose to fight all of that and work to be healthy and happy, or to give up and continue to get larger…and sooo many pick the later.

But it’s truely sad and pathetic how many perceptions are controlled by the media.

  22. Mitch says:

It’s simple, regardless whether you have a ‘health condition’ or not, if you retain extra fat, it has detrimental effects on your body. Overweight and obese people shorten their lifespan significantly.

However, attempting to become anorexic or not eating isn’t the answer, the answer is to eat healthy. Most overweight people believe that people who are of a healthy weight don’t eat, this is false. A healthy weight is maintained by balanced meals throughout the day ESPECIALLY BREAKFAST which boosts your metabolism for the rest of the day. Also, exercise is important, just half an hour a day with a sensible diet can give you a healthy weight.

Okay, in some scenarios some of you may have health problems, in that case you need to talk to a doctor/nutritionist and figure out a diet that suits your condition. Anyway, altogether it is your choice and your responsibility to keep a healthy weight and you cannot blame society for not socially accepting you if you choose to disregard your responsibility.

Furthermore, no, I don’t like overweight women, you know why? Because I’m not planning to have a relationship with somebody who’s going to die long before me. Saying this, I also point out I wouldn’t expect any person to want a relationship with me, I have a problem with stress in minor situations. Stress can also reduce your lifespan by approximately 20 years, I’d never want to cause pain by leaving somebody behind.

    • Doc Ock says:

And in England, where we have a health and benefits service funded by the state via workers’ taxes, those of us who try to eat healthily and look after ourselves are sick of fatties wasting our tax money on widening their doors, installing their stairlifts and fitting their replacement hearts because they are so damn fat their original ones conk out early. At least smokers contribute towards healthcare costs by paying extra tax via duty on their cigarettes – fat people just leech off the rest of us, take up too much space on public transport and sweat over everyone else in hot weather. If everyone who said “oh, it’s a medical problem, I gained 4 dress sizes by not eating” is telling the truth then I’m the Queen of Sheba. Eat less and move more, people. You’re lazy and you eat too much junk, and the rest of us are tired of paying for your appalling lifestyles.

    • Bookworm says:

Your right eating healthy is a person’s personal responsibility, and no most fat people don’t think people who are of healthy weight don’t eat that is incredibly prejudicial thing to say. What makes people angry is to be pigeon holed as stupid or lazy. what makes people angry is other people feeling like they have a right to make fun of people with weight issues. And your right half hour workout every day and eating healthy will put you at a healthy weight, that is if you aren’t already overweight. If you are you have to work twice as hard to lose the weight, because fat cells perform mitosis (cell division) and the bigger your fat cells are the faster and more often they perform mitosis, their for someone who is overweight has to work twice to five times as hard to lose that weight and once it is lost to keep it off they have to work twice as hard so it is an uphill battle for most people. And no one has the right to belittle or hurt someone else because of their weight or any other issue they have that is absolutely horrid no matter how fat one is.

  23. Warren says:

Being obese is more often than not a person’s own fault. Even those with hypothyroidism can take supplements and put more effort into the diet and exercise.

Sure, some people with higher metabolisms have it easier but it’s not an excuse for everyone else not to try harder.

  24. Gabriel says:

If you don’t like it when people tell you not to do anything that may possibly cause some kind of health problem, then judging overweight people is hypocritical and logically inconsistent. :)

Critical thinking: learn to do it!

  25. george says:

Okay people – daylights burnin’! Somebody pass me that plate of Ding Dongs and Ho Hos!!!

  26. hadomaru says:

I don’t make fun of fat people
I don’t have any desire to date a fat girl, but i’m still friendly to them as anyone. I’m just not attracted to them, not my fault, and there are people who are.
What i make fun of is the skinny girls who get so worked up about being fat. Do you really want to weight 95 pounds?
And if your self esteem is dependent on never being called fat, then you are a freaking Water Buffalo, and yours is fast but mine is slow.

    • No one says:

      ^This.

My sister weighed 98lbs from the time she was 13-25 (after having her 2nd kid…she actually got skinnier after her first). Now she’s a healthy 130lbs 10 yrs later and constantly wants to tell superskinny chicks to eat a cheeseburger :D

  27. Fire-glass Dragon says:

    Oh dear lord Jesus….
Ok, I admit that I -AM- a little heaftier than other girls in my class and upper grades, but I do have hypothyroidism. Yes, I was given pills for it, however I see no reason to “eat helthier” because of A) my own depression and B) the fact that we are all F**KED.

What we NEED to be concerned about is Obama and the fact that he’s trying to “reach out” to the people that BOMBED the World Trade Center. I’m not racist, but when Nasa is shut down for MUSLIMS, that’s when I get pissed.

  28. Me says:

Healthy weight is actually a euphemism for fat.

  29. hobophobic says:

I don’t get why so many people get SO offended over making fun of some one’s fat? fatness is not a skin color/ethnicity. They’re lazy fat-asses and they are fat because they’re lazy and eat too much. I’m a fat-ass myself and I encourage people to laugh at my expense… If anything it’s motivation to get off my fat ass!

  30. slightly pudgy says:

    You’re all FAT!

  31. SoWhat says:

funny how this one subject really brings out the worst in people, particularly their posts. Now on a side note, isn’t/wasn’t Sally Struthers fat?

  32. Ending it here. Anyone who criticizes the guy is probably a fat ass, cause this funny as hell.

  33. Fatty says:

I have a medical condition, and I can’t lose weight… I just keep putting it on. It’s a very sad condition and it’s genetic. It’s called Cantstopstuffingmyfaceitus. It is commonly accepted to be fat and stuff cuz it’s genetic… it wasn’t my fault my parents gave me an all you can eat buffet, and I wanted more. LRN2NOTBFAT

  34. Jierda says:

Lol. If your self-esteem can be killed by ONE bad comment, you didn’t have self-esteem to begin with.
