LOL Now that’s what I call a sticky situation!

    • Jibble says:

I can’t keep my pants up.

      • Jon 'the pen is liquor' Evans says:

Then you and me should hook up sometime baby ;)

        • Jibble says:

Eric Massa? Is that you? :)

          • Eric Massa likes Goats says:

Yes my name is Eric… and I like goats.

Also Vietnam is a country that raped american… I guess americans dont teach kids in school about that war because they lost.

            • Truth says:

The fact that they lost isn’t really the issue.

I mean, yeah, it sucks that they lost and it was devastating for the country, but the real reason why the Vietnam war was such a disaster for the US was that the US had no reason to be there.

They were trying to play mercenary and they got their asses handed to them…

              • Arc says:

That sounds familiar. I think that’s taking place right now. o.O

                • Jibble says:

Wow, a hat trick of history fail. American schools truly do suck @$$.

                  • nelssa says:

Yep. Blame the schools, because kids always pay attention and remember what they are told. Besides, how does a person have any knowledge of pop culture or life outside of school and not know about Vietnam. How many movies have been made?

                    • Tim says:

And how many has been made about American Soldiers “saving the world”, which they only joined it in 1941 after pearl harbour which was the Americans fault for cutting off the Japanese fuel supplies

                      • Shipoopie says:

huess what, if we hadnt joined, you woulda lost! :P

                        • Ye right says:

Guess what, I think you forgot about the tiny little country called Russia which was pretty busy winning the war.
Which is an extreme oversimplification of the war, but still.

Oh and about Pearl Harbour, that was a military attack. Completly fair in times of war. Evaporating 100,000 citizens really isn’t something to make a “omg we were awesome”-movie about.

                        • Jack says:

Yeah cutting off oil to a fascist regime that vivisectioned POW’s is the fault of Americans. I would love to see a world without America…who would you blame. Better yet…who would you call. It will happen again…its on the way..You will have your opportunity to side with NKorea and Iran. You have that opportunity now.

                  • DampTowelMan says:

Not really, it’s the student who don’t give a damn. Trust me, I’m a student, and just because everytime some dumbass on facebook says something dumb doesn’t mean it’s lack of good education

                • Drowzor says:

Er, the UK and the US won the iraq war a little while ago. Now there are just some rebels…

              • casprd says:

The “fact” that America lost isn’t really a fact. America was in Vietnam to prevent the North from overrunning the South, which they did for roughly 12 years, not to invade and conquer the North. The facts are that while just under 60,000 Americans lost their lives, while just over a million North Vietnamese were killed (according to North Vietnam) 12 to 1 is hardly having your ass handed to you. Further fact is that the American troops lost no major battles during the war. Khe Sahn, Huy and the rest of the Tet Offensive were all decisive victories for American and South Vietnamese troops. Hardly having your ass handed to you when you win all the battles.

Only some time after the US pulled combat troops from the country did the south fall to the north.

                • Wolffang says:

Right after the French lost in the Indo-China war to Vietnam(Vietnamese fought for their independence) the American jumped right in Vietnam to prevent the spreading of Communist. It was Communist Party of Vietnam who drove the French off the land of Vietnam. What the American did is not nice with Vietnamese people. They didn’t have to be there to lost many lives. Vietnamese people just wanted to unite the country and be independent. They just wanted to say:” Please, Americans, step off the land of Vietnam or we must kick your ass very, very hard”. It was a epic fail of American military.

                  • elictrogeek says:

obviously you don’t know what communism does to a country

                    • Naoyusimi says:

The USA was worried that Vietnam would fall to China–they were wrong, but that was the worry.

I can’t find the right clip, but here’s McNamara talking about the Gulf of Tonkin, in which they were wrong about things. Believing influences what you see. He says, “Belief and seeing: they’re both often wrong.”

                      {http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76wv2ybJelQ&feature=related}

                    • eduardortiz says:

obviously you are american! A great deal of the failure of comunist countries is the American intervention and satanisation of their economies and politics

                      • Naoyusimi says:

Yes, well, many Americans aren’t properly taught the difference between communism–economics and politics–and totalitarianism . . . and fascism, and many other “-isms”.

                    • Wolffang says:

Actually I’m Vietnamese and we’re happy.

                    • Wolffang says:

We Vietnamese are happy with our government. We don’t need any other foreigner to mind our country. SO thank you but don’t be wrong, we’re pretty happy. Of course communism failed in Russia according to history, but not in Vietnam.

                      • Cizoc says:

And how old were you when the war was going on? Negative thirty? Maybe you’re fine now, maybe you’re just part of the group that benefits from communism and not part of the group that suffers, but I think you have it out of context.

It’s true that communism is an acceptable form of government, but you cannot say that everyone is benefiting. No matter what style of government you practice, there is always someone who suffers from it. America simply believed that there would be less suffering if Vietnam adopted a different type of government, and so they invaded. They failed, but they had good intentions. And don’t even quote “The road to hell…” because I know. Trust me. They had good intentions, they just went about it the wrong way.

I personally believe that communism is not the way to go. That is just my opinion, but I do not speak for anyone other than myself.

Please do not deem to speak for an entire country when you do not know that everyone lives as you do.

                        • That guy says:

Maybe I am speaking out of turn, but it’s not our job to police the world. We have conventions and unions to help with that, for instance the United Nations( or perhaps even the European Union?) The fact of the matter is that the US is over stepping it’s bounds. Humanitarian efforts are one thing but telling(read; forcing) other countries how to operate is something completely different.

                    • Drowzor says:

Communism is a great idea. Communism = Librals and the US has a libral president.

                      • Naoyusimi says:

                        Communism =/= Liberals.

You sir, are an example of either poor teaching, or the spread of disinformation.

                      • Yes, I will correct your spelling. I am that petty says:

                        A. It’s liberals, not librals. Thats just plain stupid.
And, B. Liberalism is not communism, thats more stupid

                        • kss says:

Thats what they want you to think… That the communist side is the most liberal. And the other side conservative.

                        • Drowzor says:

                          A) It was a small typo, in fact, even if I spelt it wrong, my browser has a spell check in it, I just rarely take the time to worry about spelling over the internet. This is the internet, not a marked report…

                          B) Liberalism and Communism are of the same wing and political stand in politics. Although they are not exactly the same (which is obvious otherwise why have two words for the same thing?) the clear point I was making was they are similar in nature.

Is is stupid to look at a sentence as a equation and not consider how it should be interpreted.

                      • Barnum says:

By that logic, Fascism = Conservatives, and Ronald Reagan was Der Fuhrer.

                        • Drowzor says:

                          That’s correct.

                        • Naoyusimi says:

                          Drowzor: From my post below:
“An idea has been advanced that “right” and “left” don’t really apply: at the furthest ends of the spectrum, it meets itself; really, it should be represented as a circle . . . or a Moebius strip.”
So, there are no “wings”. The extremes of what people consider Left and Right are indistinguishable from each other.

                    • Ye Olde Devil says:

And you do? Please, enlighten us. And don’t go off about Pol Pot, Mao or Stalin, either. Those are the worst examples of the extreme left, who are balanced by extreme right leaders such as Hitler, Pinochet, Mussolini, Franco, etc..

                      • Naoyusimi says:

All the same, in my opinion . . . well, not just mine.
An idea has been advanced that “right” and “left” don’t really apply: at the furthest ends of the spectrum, it meets itself; really, it should be represented as a circle . . . or a Moebius strip.

                        • Cizoc says:

I’m adding this to see how thin we can make the comment lines from all the reply spaces.
                          I count 11 so far.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about,
                          <=thattaway!

                        • Drowzor says:

I understand what you’re saying, that if you follow the political extremes far enough, you find yourself going through the full spectrum of politics, so it is better defined, or re-defined as a circle and I, for the most part, agree.

However, in the more, broadened sense of politics, it’s better to define the differences in the two main viewpoints, as wings.

                      • you gotta be s**tin me says:

@ ye olde devil: are you calling hitler a good leader? your a sick fker, you know that?

                        • Derp says:

Well in a sense Hitler WAS a good leader. He was a horrible man though, don’t get me wrong. But Hitler DID lead.

                  • Kitt says:

It was my understanding that the (democratic?) government in opposition to the communists was super corrupt and awful, but America wanted that one in power anyway because they were corrupt and awful and agreed with our political ideals. In general, I call that one “Overly Broad Application of the Truman Doctrine” fail.

                • tekgiz says:

Casprd, we didn’t lose Viet Nam, we never had it. We backed a minority culture/religion government (Chinese ancestry, French speaking, Catholic) against the people who had, with our encouragement, organized and run an insurgency against the Japanese. We promised them, during the war, that we would support their independence from colonial powers after the war, and couldn’t have cared less about their politics. As soon as the war was over, we abrogated every agreement, and reneged on every promise we made… No surprise, we did that all over SE Asia, and throughout the Southeastern Pacific.

We clustered around the cities, making forays into the boonies, but not really occupying rural territory in a meaningful way. We failed to learn the lessons of every successful war we had ever had; If you don’t occupy the land and control policy and politics you lose, period!

I spent parts of 1970-to 1972 ‘in country’ and these issues were not unknown to the military command and intelligence structures, but the politicians back home had their heads wrapped round a totally different set of ideas.

                • kss says:

So f**king proud. I wonder how these Vietnamese died? You don’t remember some white “powder” falling off airplanes? Hm… I think your American schools teaches you what they want you to know.

                  • Cizoc says:

Pride, in itself, is not a bad thing.

                    Racism is.

Don’t hate America because one leader chose to start a war he could not win. Not all Americans are like Truman.

                    • Kitt says:

                      Didn’t Kennedy start Vietnam? D:

                      The Truman Doctrine, when it was… made?, referred specifically to Turkey and Greece, who were both in immediate danger of falling to Communism following World War II. The subsequent anti-Communist wars applied Truman’s words to things they weren’t intended for. Man, what happened to isolationism!? ;_;

                      • Cizoc says:

Oops. True, true. That was definitely my mistake. The war BEGAN when Truman was in office, but America didn’t join in until Kennedy, who used Truman’s words to justify his actions.

                        Thanks for the correction.

                • Lim says:

Uhhhh You DO know Tet offensive kinda killed american soldiers’ morale right? Even if the US got more kills, they lost something which is ‘stability’ the soldiers lost up *here* (taps head)

                • History Dude says:

The US lost as it was unable to do what it went there to do, prevent Vietnam from becoming united under a Communist government.

Plus a huge of the USA’s soldiers were drug addicts by the end, then went home and found that almost no-one in their home country supported the war and called them murderers because they had seen TV footage of events such as the My Lai Massacre and countless executions of suspected spies without trial.

American forces may have won military victories, but they lost the hearts and minds of not only the vietnamese, but also American citizens. Without support back home, you can’t win a war.

                • nitpickersanon says:

I think you’ll find that, while your stats are all true, it was a case of winning the battles and losing the war. The North Vietnamese walked into Saigon even as the US were evacuating. I think that constitutes a loss, don’t you?

            • Sean says:

Actually, while they weren’t exactly winning (ok so they were continuously getting their asses handed to them) but that’s not why they lost. They lost because of the amount of media coverage showing how brutal inhumane their soldiers were and so the public, accurately, demanded they withdraw.

That, however, isn’t the only thing they don’t teach the Merikans in school though; they also avoid telling the students that the countries America was supporting in the Cold War were Fascist and/or Despotic in their political structure. Oh and though they teach this it is purposefully underplayed: Kennedy got them into a war they shouldn’t have been fighting and Nixon (who was only caught doing what everyone else did) got them out of there.

A further ramification of the media caused exit is the lack of media coverage in Iraq and Afghanistan (though I support the beginning of the war in Afghanistan (though they really need to rethink their strategy)) and that lack of media coverage is the only reason they’re still there.

            • Essayons says:

Um, America didnt LOSE Vietnam. We were beating the s**t out of them until 1973, then North Vietnam signed a peace agreement, so we left in 1975. But then they broke the agreement and invaded anyway. What in the hell makes you think the US lost? It was the lying agreement breaking North that got its way by cheating on the agreement.

              • Essayons says:

like caspr said above, we held them out of the South for 12 years, and were killing them 12 to 1. Yep, the US was TOTALLY getting their asses handed to them.

Eric, youre obviously a foreigner in some poor as eastern European country. Think maybe you need to come over here to get a little education on the topic.

                • Jibble says:

Problem is they aren’t teaching it correctly here (US.) You unfortunately are one of the few who haven’t been fed a revisionist history.

              • King Mrrr says:

You guys all know this isn’t a fail, right? He’s being funny.
Have fun pointlessly arguing about Vietnam.

              • Faff says:

you’re realy making a fool of yourself with such a statement.
The US did lose the war against vietnam. its a fact. there’s no point denying it

              • Ye Olde Devil says:

I love the way you say that, as if the US hasn’t broken dozens (if not hundreds) of promises made to poor nations.

              • History Dude says:

America had promised Vietnam a vote about whether they wanted to be united under Ho-Chi Minh or remain cut in two.

That never happened. America lied to the Vietnamese people.

              • Someguy says:

You wanna talk about agreement breaking? After splitting Vietnam in two, according to the Geneva Accords reunification elections were to be held in 1956. America did not allow these elections because they knew Ho Chi Minh would win them.

            • DampTowelMan says:

Uhhhh, actually, by body count, the U.S. raped North Vietnam, we just left to see if South Vietnam could fight for themselves, and they failed, so if anything South Vietnam lost

              • Yes, the US is quite good at rape says:

“Raped” is the right word. Raping peasant girls in rural villages and killing the men who protested, saying later they were “suspected Viet-Cong”.

Sounds like the American Way, all right.

            • Das ist gut says:

actually, the american population forced the government to pull out of ‘Nam or they would’ve kept trying to plow her (giggity). But they were losing, you are right about that.

            • Sergeant Sarcasm says:

Er, right, of course, that’s why I just finished learning about the VIETNAM WAR in my AMERICAN SCHOOL’S history class.

            • Cizoc says:

I don’t know about anyone else, but I learned about it in school. As a previous comment said… well, twelve to one. I don’t think America lost, I think that they pulled out due to the war being a lost cause. It wasn’t a war between America and Vietnam anyway.

I do believe that the war was between…

Oh yeah. North Vietnam, and South Vietnam. America just aided the South, because they shared ideas of government.

            • Simmy says:

Of course not every school is the same, but I had a teacher say we’d never lost a war before and when I mentioned Vietnam, he told me we won… This was the year I had to go to public school in Ohio, but there were all kinds of inaccuracies in the textbooks. Craziness.

            • hurr says:

Well, if you’re going to talk about how I haven’t been taught in school, I’ll just clarify something:

              It’s the Vietnam Conflict.
There was no official declaration of war, so you cannot classify it as such.

              • nitpickersanon says:

Yep, people just “conflicted” one another to death. No war. Those napalm bombs were just a little conflict. That Agent Orange was just a little conflict. No war here, everybody. Nothing to see here.

                Idiot.

BTW You forgot to mention the Korean “Peace action” as well, where they peace actioned 1,187,682 people to death.

            • Im american says:

Im a highschool student who is american and i knew all about Vietnam, and my school did teach us about Vietnam(a little bit however) and it talked all about how we lost… so you are fail

    • dfdd says:

Wow… my hatred of people has now risen to 98%

      • Jibble says:

Get in line. Mine is at 99%.

        • sylvia says:

Wait wait wait. Slow down. I think I’ve heard this quote before. I think the facebook poster was quoting a piece of satire- it sounds like he’s quoting Colbert. IT’S A JOKE, PEOPLE!

          • Grammar Police says:

Everyone’s too busy criticising the quote to notice.

          • Sergeant Sarcasm says:

This is why quotation marks were invented. If someone was set on finding a fail somewhere in this status, they could claim that, while it is a quote, the fail is in not using quotation marks.

But, for just a fail, that would be a bit desperate.

        • keirandevlin says:

you get in line! mine’s OVER 9000!!!

    • Pshaw says:

Hmmm… to, hopefully, wrap it up for s**t stains the world-over:

We bash because we’re jealous. My mom and everyone else’s said so.

The Vietnam Conflict was a loss in terms of achieving the goal, a win in terms of body count, and a loss in terms of repeating history. (you can’t win against lightly armed and highly mobile natives in their home territory without resorting to “total war”.)

American education ? People are stupid everywhere. If a source of education is faulty then it is up to the individual to educate themselves.

Communism is a beautiful idea and works but only on a small scale. Once you’ve grown beyond the influence of community it either requires an extremely over bearing government to maintain it or it will collapse.

WW2… Yeah, the U.S. picked it’s time to enter the war just like every other country did. The countries and areas that Germany invaded one after another before anyone would do anything are about the only people that can REALLY gripe about when other countries chose to join the fight.

Yeah, the U.S. nuked japan. If we hadn’t we’d have wound up invading an armed indigenous population and the losses would have been huge on BOTH sides. Real war is not fair. Someone has to lose. After the first bomb was dropped Japan was given the option to surrender. They refused. Japan and the U.S. are pretty close allies now and I think that says something about the honor of both countries.

The U.S. is damned for staying out of conflict and damned for initiating it. It seems that the only way we’re NOT damned is when we join a conflict started by some other nation. Wait… oh, that’s what happened in Vietnam -_-

It is a sad truth that the U.S. does stick it’s nose in other people’s business entirely too much. We pester our own citizens in the same way. -sigh- This is one point that I will have to concede BUT may I point out the “damned if we do damned if we don’t” paragraph above.

For all of the U.S.’s busy-bodying and interfering let us not forget that “America” DOES aid many other countries in a real and lasting way during times of crisis with medical supplies, food, and rescue personnel. We also liberated Kuwait and prevented the invasion of Saudi Arabia. These acts don’t excuse our other transgressions but it does show that maybe, just maybe, our hearts are in the right place even if our brains are in our asses.

For the trolls… masturbation would be much more satisfying and just about as productive so just just busy your hands with some fappage and leave your contributions to the gene pool where they belong, in a tissue.

  2. person says:

My bf just started hyperventilating over the sheer stupidity

  3. Birdy says:

Some people really learn NOTHING !!!

  4. TobyJohn says:

Yes we should! And it’s right next to DERPistan!

  5. PEWPEWPEW says:

    …-.-…

  6. Nick Acosta says:

The sad thing is that most people still wouldn’t be able to tell you where Vietnam was exactly without using Google Maps or something.

  7. Ello There says:

    BAHAHAHAHA.

  8. boob says:

    he should attack himself

  9. Llama says:

    Title says it all

  10. xasp42 says:

I dunno… this smacks of “somebody said this in a movie and this guy’s just quoting it” to me. Anyone else get that feeling?

    • Anonymous says:

I sincerely hope you’re right but I have a strong suspicion that you’re not. There really are people that stupid out there…

      • yo! says:

I tried Google it, and none came out as same as this, damn how can someone be like this.

      • xasp42 says:

I know, man. It really is scary. Have you ever seen that video of Kellie Pickler on “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?” wondering out loud whether Europe is a different country than France? Look it up on YouTube… horrifying.

  11. Christophe says:

What are they teaching these kids in school? This guy is obviously not making it in either history or geography.

    • davey o says:

or English for that matter… “iraq is a like vietnam”

    • WeirdFish says:

Unfortunately, what they’re teaching now is “how to feel better about yourself.” Facts, history, spelling, grammar — none of that means anything in deference to “differentiation.” Schools are turning into customized Amazon.com learning environments because a bunch of yahoos at state boards of education went to a seminar once.

    • Bethany says:

Don’t confuse what is being taught with what is being learned – totally different things!

      • Benj says:

That is a contradictio in terminis. If students are not learning what they are being taught, they are not being taught. Conclusion is that the educational system is failing, badly.

        • Grammar Police says:

I thought no child is left behind in your country?
So you are telling me that they are all just pulling each-other down then?
Into the abyss that is stupidity?

          • Don says:

Yup, it sounds like you understand the “no child left behind” policies perfectly. What it really means is “no class may move faster than their stupidest student”. Never mind the fact that some students are there to actually try to learn something.

    • srsly says:

I didn’t learn about Vietnam (the war, at least) until college. But I *did* know where it was by 6th grade or so. And that there had been a war there, even if I didn’t know any details.

      • Dragdamar says:

I didn’t learn about Viet Nam in my normal classes in High School either, fortunately for me I was old enough to understand what was going on in 1968-1973 and everything I was told later was either a bunch of liberal propaganda or the truth from my ROTC instructors who had actually served there. Good luck with that nao, the Liberal Intelligensia is doing everything it can to ‘stupidify’ American youths and teach them we should all get along by being good little communists like the rest of the world.

        • Naoyusimi says:

Good g*d! Here’s your brown shirt . . . now, goosestep off, would ya?

        • betza says:

I doubt that you know what communism really works like and how much it differs from what you ‘fear’. If so, American youths or any person in any country stupify themselves and let themselves be polarised by undifferentiated news and points of view.

        • Nick says:

Dragdamar (I’m going to assume your from the US) what is this thing with communists every conversation i have with an american about politics or world events it always seems to end with the American saying thats communist or thats what a communist would do

          • xasp42 says:

Sounds like you’re talking to too many right-wingers to me…

            • Steve D. says:

Any of you guys ever hear of Stalin, Mao, or Pol Pot (just to name a few)? Communists are not nice guys. Their reputation precedes them.

              • xasp42 says:

There is a difference between actual communists, and dictators who want everyone else to be communists so that they can rule over them and reap the fruits of their labor.

              • Sergeant Sarcasm says:

That Karl Marx dude had some pretty good ideas. It was just everyone else that took the idea of communism and screwed it up.

        • ZB. says:

Oh yeah, like that stupid ass, liberal Sarah Palin and her stupid ass, liberal supporters. I’m sorry, but you’re a retard.

          • lost in the ocean says:

Uhh wow Sarah Palin ran for the CONSERVATIVE PARTY not the liberal party. Conservatives are republicans and liberals are democrats. At least know which party to rightfully blame for her idiocy ever hitting the public at large.

        • Benj says:

          Intelligentsia is plural.

  12. bonzomatic says:

Who told him that? Mario? “Is a like Vietnam!”

  13. Leanne says:

    Oh dear…

  14. Gwen says:

To all of the people in Texas who have tried to tell me that kids don’t need to learn history in school: This post is why your arguments are irrelevant!

    *headdesk*

  15. McTwin says:

    Wow…. Just…. wow……

  16. Snookie_Townshend says:

I used to work with someone that stupid about four years ago – who, quite sadly, thought she had a razor-sharp grasp of politics and world events. She was also a good fifteen years older than I am, and I was in my mid-thirties at the time. Stupid doesn’t discriminate by age…

  17. toobie says:

    …got the t-shirt.

  18. xasp42 says:

Also, this reminds me of a co-worker of mine… 34 years old and I had to explain to her the other day what a “leap year” is, because she honestly did not know. OMG.

  19. ipe says:

“a nation that doesn’t know its history is fated to repeat it”

    • lost in the ocean says:

That quote is more geared towards individuals and it pertains to everyday life. Like if you don’t learn from your own mistakes and the mistakes of others you are doomed to repeat them. Entire countries for the most part have no general control over who they invade so no its not “a nation that doesn’t know its history is doomed to repeat it” its “anyone who doesn’t know history is doomed to repeat it”.

      • Pshaw says:

Not so. Various nations throughout history ignore the past and repeat the same failures. Take the “Don’t EVER invade Russia during winter.” lesson that so many have ignored :D

  20. Sophie says:

    ow.. oww… owww! My brain!!!

    • Sergeant Sarcasm says:

MY BRAIN, IT BURRRNS! THE STUPIDITY OF IT ALL IS LIKE A SEARING HOT POISON, TRAVELING THROUGH MY BLOODSTREAM, DESTROYING EVERYTHING IN IT’S PATH!

      **body parts sizzle and melt**

  21. somebodyman says:

I have met people who are a lot stupid than this guy. In fact I have met people who don’t know what….

…Good Friday is (although if they weren’t Christians, I understood why didn’t know)
…the difference between George Bush (H.W.) and George Bush (W.)
    …where Canada is
…that the Summer Olympics were held in different places every 4 years (For some reason they think it’s held in Beijing or Atlanta every time)
…what an “ignition” is on a car
…what HD (yes HD the kinds of TV’s that are increasingly becoming common) stood for.
and finally I have met people who didn’t know what the word “economy” meant.

  22. ZB. says:

It’s obviously a joke. And it’s kinda funny.

  23. sim says:

i love this quote!!! must’ve been meant as a joke, it’s too funny not to be intended.

  24. ute says:

I thought every single American had the same question…

    • Sergeant Sarcasm says:

I think you need to revise your opinion. Like intelligence, stupidity is not limited to one particular nation.

However, if stupidity was measured in per capita, then by default the U.S. would have more stupid people than most countries. :D

  25. spot-the-bug says:

This is hilarious. TOTALLY made my day. Even if it IS an epic fail. BAHAHA

  26. I love how he asks if they should attack it. Always the second question an American asks after “What is it?”

  27. stiffkitten says:

probably a kid who never learned about Vietnam.

  28. sim says:

and the third question that follows is an Englishman who asks “should we attack that as well, master?”

  29. kbar says:

    Awesome. Totally a joke.

  30. mikael says:

Am I really the only one who read this as a joke?
I sincerely believe the author of that post was parodying the idea of Americans being terrible at geography and history, not just as a “oh, I really hope he is joking, nobody could be that stupid” – and I really don’t think the post would have been written that way if he really had no idea about Vietnam.

  31. Kendra says:

It seriously makes me both sad and nervous to see how many comments there were about people not learning about the Vietnam War in school. I’m a seventeen year old, who just graduated, and remember quite clearly going through the lesson in both middle and high school. Certainly I’ll keep this in mind when choosing a school district for my future children.

  32. Aaron says:

Has anyone thought that the guy was being satirical..?

  33. Daniel says:

Nine years ago, at the young age of 17, I was working as a cashier. A co-worker proceeded to ask me if I’ve been to Nam.

  34. Cheryl says:

Right beneath China, above Indonesia and has a shape of the letter S
    btw, im vietnamese =)

  35. selaphieldk says:

lol that was funny as hell!

  36. Duh! says:

Talking about that lack of geographical knowledge… once I met a person from USA who stated that he was American…. (reminded me of the Europe-Africa joke) America is not a country…..
even when most of you people think that….

    • wow, really? says:

      are you SERIOUS?
the united states of america is a COUNTRY located on the CONTINENT of north america.
      douchebag.
i mean really, have you never heard someone say they’re “representing their country” or “fighting for their country”? why would we call it that if it’s not a country? surely ALL of us couldn’t be wrong!
      *facepalm*

    • Naoyusimi says:

North America and South America are continents, but “America” is a common name for the United States of America, especially by the people who live here.

You probably know that, if you’re so learned in geography. You just wanted another reason to slam dumb Americans.

    • xasp42 says:

Yeah, and someone who says they’re from “the United States” could either be talking about the United States of America, or the United States of Mexico… and, while we’re at it, how about all those folks from “England” and “Ireland” and “Scotland” who are really from the United Kingdom? Using an abbreviated/alternate version of a name does NOT mean the user doesn’t know the full/actual name of whatever (s)he’s referring to, much as you’d like to believe that.

So, tell me, what do they call the natives of YOUR country, under-bridge-dweller? :p

      • weebeastie says:

Erm. England and Scotland are NOT alternative or abbreviated names for the United Kingdom – they’re parts of the UK, like Texas is part of the US (but we don’t have a federal system of states).

And Ireland is its own independent country. It’s part of the British Isles, the name given to the islands, but it’s totally independent.

Northern Ireland is part of the UK, as is Wales. Northern Ireland, however is not part of Great Britain, which is actually the name of the largest island that makes up the archipelago of the British Isles, and thus the full title of the UK is the ‘United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland’.

        Just so you know. ;)

    • Naoyusimi says:

Perhaps you’d like to tell us what we should call ourselves: USA’ers? United Statesers? USAish. Just what are residents of the United States of America to call themselves? “Why, no, I’m not Canadian, I’m USA’ian.”

    • yofi says:

You’re so right. We should just call ourselves United Statesians, or USAish.

Wtf do you think the ‘a’ stands for?

    • Ug Lee Merican says:

We hereby claim the appellation “American” to refer to the citizens of the USA and “America” shall now refer solely to the USA. Any foreigners who object shall be required to lodge their complaint in person in the state of Arizona. The entrance is under a chain-link fence.

  37. Duh! says:

thought thats what they call ur mother!

  38. 10 second tim says:

    What if it’s a joke

  39. 10 second tim says:

    what if it’s a joke.

  40. 10 second tim says:

    What if its a joke

  41. 10 second tim says:

Does anyone have an odd feeling of deja vu?

  42. Wow... says:

    America in a nutshell.

  43. Banananananana says:

Oh god, the stupid, it LITERALLY BURNS MY EYES.

  44. xasp42 says:

FOUND IT! I knew it had to be taken from something…

    http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/november2004/091104perspective.htm

  45. J says:

hahaha, finally, someone gets the origin of the joke.

    • xasp42 says:

It did take a bit of dissecting the phrase and moving the quotation marks around until Google finally gave up its precious fruit to me. :D

  46. Barky says:

Typical. It’s because of people like this guy that there’s wars for no f****** reason.
    Oh well…
    who wants pie?

  47. Jale says:

I guess George Bush has a facebook account.

  48. lalagirl says:

    Yikes, this is sad…

  49. Robin says:

Seriously, he never saw “Operation Dumbo Drop”?

  50. Historically.... says:

I’m amazed it slipped past everyone trolling through here that the U.S.A. never officially declared war on Vietnam hence the term “Vietnam Conflict”…

  51. Ketrena says:

    FOOL!!!!! Get a grip!!

  52. igetstabby says:

We had Vietnam in bag but we let it go :(
Kinda like with Mexico, why’d we give back, it wouldn’t be the mess that it is today if we had kept it.

  53. The Pharaoh says:

sarah palin really ought to have an adult check before she posts on her fb.

  54. Ho Chi says:

America had no right to be in Vietnam, all they did whilst they were there was incinerate thousands of miles of rainforest with Napalm, poison thousands of people with chemical weapons like Agent Orange, keep corrupt dictatorships in power and butcher the Vietnamese people with brutal and ineffective tactics like Search and Destroy, Operation Rolling Thunder etc.

Finally, two words which are the ultimate reason that the USA lost:
    My Lai

  55. Carolina says:

No… You shouldn’t attack them, ecause you’ll probably loose.
    Again.

  56. Lee says:

    aaaahahahahahahahahahaha

  57. Coralee says:

It’s questions like these that make me cry myself to sleep at night.

  58. D-man says:

I know the person that posted this. :O

  59. Sunndrop says:

oh and erica massa we did lose vietnam but not for the reasons you think. We won every single conflict in vietnam and they had about five times more casualties than us. the reason we lost is because it wasn’t nessacerly a good-bad war and the american people were against it. the whole point of the war was to keep communism out of the south. unfortunately the vietnamese had the chinese and soviet backing them up so they had huge supplies of reinforcements. we actually saved the vietnamese by pulling out just before we decided to nuke them. we won by a military standpoint but the vietnamese won the wars initial purpose. now Eric this is why i went to private school.

  60. fox says:

    and you fail!!
