The last names aren’t even similar length… fake.
Perhaps they’re half-brothers…
Some people use their middle names on FB too… who knows?
Um just because their names aren’t the same length doesn’t mean they’re not brothers. I have 4 other siblings with a different last name than mine (they’re half siblings) then I have two step-siblings with (obviously) a different last name than mine.

I also have friends that are full brothers and have different last names, such as taking the mothers maiden name because the family name would die out if not, the parents just wanted it that way, or the other boy was born out of marriage and the mom’s a spiteful woman.

These people are absolutely right. Just because their names arn’t the same length doesn’t mean anything. Me and all my friends have middle names or nicknames or something in our name. So It obviously going to be a differant length. I mean, maybe Jeff had his middle name and Matt didn’t.
Oh, please…I have three siblings(two stepsiblings and one half-sibling), my stepsiblings’ last name is ten letters, my half-sister’s is ten as well, and mine is only five. Not all siblings have names that are the exact same length, or even the same name
But one could have been adopted, and kept their birth name

Possible, but less likely. All clues point towards a fake. I mean, look at the time gaps.
Each replying within a minute of the other.
And especially Matt would need to
a) have his ‘brother’s’ FB open in front of him at that exact moment
b) be able to read the status message and all comments, at supersonic speed, compose and write a message
…all within one minute.
Conclusions:
a) Matt is a supergenius, the other kids are bordering on genius too (in terms of reading+writing speed)
b) None of these kids have a life outside FB
c) Fake

Well it sounds legit to me, I dont have any full siblings. All of my siblings have different last names.
Me and my two sisters have completely different surnames, not even remotely close to each other, considering one is an irish surname and theirs are italian. Plus one of them uses her middle name and her surname on Facebook.

Just because their last names aren’t similar in length doesn’t mean they’re related. My older brother and I have totally different last names. Plus, not everyone uses their last names in their names on facebook. (I have friends who are planning on being teachers so they change their last names around so their students can’t find them)

Nah, my brother and I have different last names, and my sister has a completely different name, too. Not necessarily fake, you just gotta know that some families aren’t as perfect as yours may be.
A lot of people I know dont have their last names on FB, so the names you see could be a last name in one case and a second first name in the other.. doesnt mean it HAS to be fake sherlock! You must think so much of yourself.

You must be terrible at faking. If I was in a situation where I was trying to fake having a brother, why the hell would I use a different last name? I wouldn’t, as that would be less believable. If this guy was trying to be funny and really did make up a brother, chances are you all would see the same length of name. I love the quick thinking you all prove so capable of.

I don’t get it. People are arguing about surnames being differently when the biggest problem is that in less than 7 minutes Jeff has read the post, found his dad and ratted him out, gotten a response regarding the grounding and somehow got back to Facebook to respond. If I’d done that my dad would be still ranting half an hour later and I wouldn’t be able to leave until he was done.
