  10. say"lol"! says:

    wel, not realy.
he should wait until his neck is broken to change of idea

  11. loladahl10 says:

Fuck Yeah Anthem… That sounds like a plan.

    • Hover Bacon says:

      It does.
You assemble the band. I’ll find a cheap studio. I’ll get codename:viper to lobby some politicians.
      Let’s do this.

  12. jzimbert says:

Perhaps he’s suggesting our national anthem be updated for the modern era. I wholeheartedly support the change.

    • Raymond says:

do you even know what our national anthem is talking about?

    • Russell says:

Ew, no. If “America, F**k Yeah!” is supposedly the mark of a modern era, I’d rather go back to 1815 when the anthem was written.

Our anthem is about our flag symbolicly enduring a bitter battle. “America, F**k Yeah!” is showboating and throwing around gratuitous obscenities.

  13. Dave Gomez says:

I don’t really see how this is a fail. As far as i’m aware each country does not come out to their national anthem at opening ceremonies. I assume Ryan knew this and justs wants USA to come out to “America, fuck yea”, which is quite a good idea imo, as it would mean the ceromy is not mind numbingly boring.

    • Del says:

Yeah, that would be a good way to pay respect to the whole olympic games: a theme song from a puppet movie.

Olympic doesn’t equal X-games and other “sports”.

    • Casprd says:

Thank you for throwing some logic and facts on the subject. Funny how people are panning this guy when they are the ones who don’t get it.

  14. Jason Jarred says:

I wonder if this has been misinterpreted.
He said a ‘theme song like in wrestling’, when I read this I understood it to mean that wrestling does not use the national anthem but a ‘theme’ that is different (like America, Fuck Yeah). But then I haven’t seen American wrestling, so perhaps I have this out of context.
If I’m right, then it’s hardly a fail.

  15. Anthem ≠ Theme song. Fail, Failbook.

  16. Essayons says:

I…..try….so…hard….to try and separate….wrestling fans and stupid people…..and can never succeed. And reading this was the last straw. I can’t do it anymore, I can’t!!!

  17. Kyle says:

    I understand him.

Instead of a National Anthem… maybe Kenny Loggins Real American (aka Hulk Hogan’s theme song)

  18. janie says:

Ummm. There are over 5500 athletes participating in these Olympics, so if every athlete had their own theme song, it would take forever. If it was only done before competition, how would that work for team sports or direct competition? Any way you look at it, it doesn’t work. And seriously, change the national anthem to something modern? dumbass.

    • Gabriel says:

He said every country, not every athlete.

    • Srsly says:

Actually, I rather like the idea of teams and individual athletes having theme songs before they compete. Of course, team sports already do this with anthems (I’m not sure about at the Olympics, but at US pro sporting events they do). Completely impractical and frivolous, true. But an interesting idea all the same.

And having teams enter to a short bit of their anthem really is a good idea. (NOT a wrestling-like smackdown song, though. Good luck getting everyone to agree on one song!)

  19. Mandy says:

Yeah, not really a fail. 1. The country’s national anthom is not played when they enter the ceremony. 2. He is playing suggesting a theme..as in more catchy. To pump up the crowd. Kinda a cute idea.

    • CPM says:

Yes. Of course. Because really what the centuries old tradition of a global meeting of peace, sport and goodwill needs most is, “cuteness”, and in-your-face-f**k-you-patriotism.

      • alli says:

You just made my day. No lie.

      • Get over yourself says:

Most the the traditions came about in the 1920s. I hardly call “centuries”. And yes, the olympics are a lot about patrotism. Why else do the athletes compete for their counties, march under their flag? Why do counties get in bidding wars just for the right to host them? Don’t be such a pompus jerk.

      • Raymond says:

well our national anthem is a fck you to the british. but we have centuries of value, honor, patriotism, glory, the defeat of other countries and that is what our national anthem is about when we were a fledging country.

And anyone who would want to change it to something “modern” is exactly the problem with this then “great” now- “so-so” country of ours. we have let the standard slip. when WWII was going you did everything to support your country and were proud to be an american and were confident enough that you dont mess with us. now it’s “please, dont mess with us.”

        • Russell says:

No, it’s not. Like I’ve said previously on here, the national anthem is about our flag symbolicly enduring in the middle of a battle. Nothing to do with the British.

  20. Schaffer says:

Well let it not be “America Fuck yeah.” THe NFL theme song would probably be more apropriate for Americans. Just enough pompus New Roman fanfair without going overboard.

  21. Nautilus says:

    National Anthem =/= Theme Song

  22. Bob says:

Given that, in reality, the only play the national anthem if you win and he is talking about a theme song to play as they come out to start the event, maybe you guys are the stupid ones.

    • raymond says:

who wants to watch every single country’s “theme song” type thing (whether it be a national anthem or not) before the competition??? it would take forever and the olympics is not about the show it’s about the competition and pure sport. but our generation is more about a “show” than actually winning.

  23. Aly says:

I feel an ‘America is so stupid’ British argument coming up next; or from whatever European country, that is. I’d say the only country with a right to demonize another country’s educations would be Finland… where the first graders are doing algebra… I swear they do magic on those children. Anyway, before some Brit starts jabbering, I’ll tell you that I’ve listened to those British newscasters (not saying our media isn’t fucked up as well), and you guys are getting a penny out of a dollar on our country. We’re not as screwed up as you think… however, our political system is. :) Republicans + Democrats = SUCKAGE. Conservatives + Libertarians = Win. Progressive = Communist = SUCKAGE^3

    • namman says:

I had an American education and I could do algebra in first grade.
It’s not magic; it’s effective, non-antiquated education that tries to do well by its kids and parents who give a damn ’bout basic reading and math.
That, and algebra and other concepts given to first graders are at their cores very intuitive. It’s not really that hard…

  24. bill da cat says:

Ahhhh…Yet another game of “mountains and mole hills” in the comment section. This is almost as amusing as the posts on the main page.

  25. Ganner says:

Try not to stay on this page for long as you may absorb some of the fail being emitted by the post.

  26. Brian says:

What’s worse is I had a girl in a history course this semester ask if the star-spangled banner was used for anything other than the super bowl? The whole class just kind of went – are you kidding me??

  27. Erik says:

It would be pretty damn awesome if that was the USA’s national anthem, though.

  28. Blåbär says:

    HAHAHA!!!!

  29. So not everyone is as smart as you geniuses. It was still funny.

  30. mandy electric says:

lmao! hey that would be funny as hell if that where out national anthem!!! (what? you people who said “nay have no sense of humor)

  31. Lolalot says:

I don’t know who failed…At the opening ceremony i didn’t hear the anthem of each country…I heard the same song over and over.

  32. your friendly neighborhood psycho says:

this is just a recycled failbook post…look back, someone made the same national theme song joke earlier.
