Had to read it again to get it too: the guy is drinking a frap in one the pictures. now when he ask how fraps came into the conversation, the other guy quotes himself to show the sentence about fraps. yet troy still doesnt see the link and therefore thinks fraps means somthin else than frappuccinos.
Apparently Garrett feels that Troy has earned a fail for being unfamiliar with a relatively obscure regional slang term for what everyone else in the US calls a “milkshake”.
Might also be some confusion with ‘Frappe’ which is a kind of milkshake where the milk is blended with crushed ice to make it even cooler. Which is possibly what the OP was talking about. But a Frappe isn’t a milkshake either really, though the two are very similar.
The exchange above makes perfect sense if you assume Garrett is simply misspelling “frappe”, while Troy–apparently unfamiliar with that bit of regional slang– is quite reasonably assuming he’s referring to a frappuccino.
It may not reflect what they were actually thinking, but it’s at least plausible.
I understood this at first, but after reading the comments I became very confused. I thought that both knew that frap was referring to frappuchino. Garret thought Troy was a poser because there was a picture in which he was trying to look tough, yet he was holding a frappuchino, which is kind of a girly drink. Troy did not understand how drinking frappuchinos was not gangster. Garrett thought Troy failed because sugary drinks with whipped cream and caramel drizzle clearly do not make one look tough/gangster. But then people started talking about Boston and milkshakes…I must have missed something.
I think you’re right, and that’s how I read it too. These other people talking about Boston and Frappe’s didn’t get it the simple way, as we did, and started to over-analyze.
uhmmm….. i thought troy failed because he didn’t understand that garrett was quoting himself and not the name of a book…..haha at least that’s wat i got….:/
I interpreted this as Garrett was being sarcastic when he said Gangsters dont drink fraps, and poor troy just has no grasp of the sarcastic and so, this became a fail. i don’t think it has anything to do with actual frapp beverages appearing in a photo and everything to do with sarcasm being a hard medium to convey via a typed conversation.
It double failed because Garrett really should have requoted the ‘trying to be gangster’ line instead of the fraps line.
Here’s the walkthrough, I’m pretty sure. Garrett must have commented on a picture of Troy, trying to look like a Gangster but holding a Frappucino. The comment said “Gangsters don’t drink Fraps.” So then when Troy made the facebook status telling G not to be jealous, G responded with ??? like why would he be, Troy said because he is a gangster, G said no you are trying to be a gangster but GANGSTERS DON’T DRINK FRAPS, quoting himself from the picture comment that spurred the whole status update.
I may be over a year late with this but what the heck, since nobody else seems to fully get it. I got it on second reading. It went like this: Garett teased Troy about fraps not being gangster (either because Troy is holding a frappucino in a pic or Troy generally likes to drink fraps – who knows), then Troy retorted “How did frap come into this?” (I’m assuming he’s being defensive about him liking fraps, but again, who knows what he really means). Garett seeing the opportunity, took Troy’s words literally and quoted himself from earlier on how frap came into ‘this’ (the conversation).
But Garett’s words right after this set up the fail for Troy, or so Garett thought. Garett said “Do you not read at all?” trying to imply that Troy must have missed the quote. Troy however, understood those words as being him not reading in general, thus the words “Yea i do read!” Duh!” and the next next sentence which is funny “Is that a name of a book or somethin?”. The real fail is Garett’s grammar – by using ‘do’ instead of ‘did’.
I don’t get it. I guess he was drinking a frap in one of his gangsta pictures?
Nope, I don’t get it either!
Yeah… we need something here.
I guess “lameo” must be Troy’s brother.

Incorrect. A frap is a coffee drink, a milkshake is an ice cream drink.

Few things make one seem more of an ass than incorrectly correcting someone.
I was referring to the Boston slang term “frappe” (easily misspelled as “frap”), meaning “milkshake”. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_English#Lexicon (seventh entry)

Gangsters…. don’t …. drink …. fraps.
You ever see ‘em at Starbucks?
Yeah, frappuccinos are drinks from starbucks…they’re not really regional or obscure.
I don’t really get how this is funny and the fact that troy submitted it himself makes it really really lame!
I imagine that Garret submitted it. Since it seems to be on Garret’s wall.
I think what it is is Garret took Troy’s question literally, and quoted the sentence where fraps came into the conversation.

Yeah, I got lost on this one too.

Oh well. Can’t win ‘em all.

same here
that is the true funny part. probably these comments above should also go print screened and submitted

coffee store win
Confusion WIN!!
COMMENT FAIL!!!
ahaahahaha, how can you not get it.

WAY too confusing to be even slightly funny.

No, “do” instead of “did” is not a fail.
