There were some scam emails going around like the Nigerian insurance scam, but using the Irish Lottery, which does exist.

Actually, the Irish Lottery DOES exist. 3 draws on Tuesdays and Saturdays and a single draw on Mondays. You can win up to £1 million if you match all 6 numbers. It’s exactly like the National Lottery slips except you place your bet at a bookmakers instead of a newsagents. There’s also the Irish National Lottery which (I’m assuming) is something like the National Lottery.

and yes, Lottery is basically poor men’s tax. there’s no point in denying, generally: poorer people are less educated, poorer people bet on lotteries more, poorer people pay less tax, but are less well off betting on lotteries (net outflow of $$$ to the government i.e. TAX)
