OMG this is sooo funny! Some people still don’t understand how the internet works. If her profile is public, it can be found just by doing a google search. It can be found by a boss, ex, anyone. Don’t ever post what you don’t want other people knowing. Plain and simple. And the fact that she forgot she added him as a friend shows you she’s just plain retarded.
Personally, I believe that the unemployment rate is going to remain at around 9.5 percent throught out 2010 and the Republicans are going to take back a LOT of seats.
I hope so. Not about the employment rates (which I really hope are going to be good by the time I’m out of college and ready to look for a real job), but about the Republican thing.
Yeah, they are hardly any better than the stupid Dems, but having enough so that there won’t be a huge majority of Dems would be nice.

Wow, She can so totally sue over this. An employer cannot fire anyone, even those on probation unless they they do something wrong at work, since his post is an admission of the reason for firing her she can sue for FAT CASH
Erm… but the comment said quite clearly she *was* crap at her job and you’re quite entitled to sack some lamer who isn’t up to the job – especially if she’s in her probation period! And even if her comment isn’t ‘gross misconduct’ it’s going to count pretty well as ‘complete break down in working relationship.’ Lol. She’s gone!
It also depends what state she’s in. A prime example is Louisiana. He could totally get away with that since there aren’t many laws protecting employees.

Employment is at-will here, at least. Your boss doesn’t have to have a reason to fire you. He can just walk in and say “Pack your desk” and you’re done.

Wrong. In the UK if you are in a probation period for a new job, your employment can be terminated without cause. Furthermore, you are not able to take an employer to an industrial tribunal in the UK if you haven’t worked there for a year. She cannot ‘sue’. Please get your facts correct. The boss was completely right and within the law to terminate her employment. She clearly had a bad attitude and was incompetent and what she did.
It’s also written in my contract not badmouth anyone I work with or customers on line. Plus calling pervert is surely slander.
You can certainly get fired for something you do outside of work if it is something related to your job. In this case, it could clearly be shown that she does not like her job and has contempt for her co-workers (in this case, her boss) that is not condusive to a productive atmosphere (those last eight words are striaght out of legal decisions from cases where a person tried to sue because they were fired). I recently read something about someone who had been fired from a medical office because they had gotten in a bar fight (unrelated to work). The person tried to sue but lost because they argued that he was making the entire office look bad. And he was, I wouldn’t go to a place if I read about their employees getting in fights at bars. Nor would I feel comfortable doing business with a place where the employees were openly and publicly insulting each other and saying they hated their job, as the girl in this case did.
Key words in case you missed it. She is on a 6mth probation meaning they can let her go at any time. Many states have an “At Will” employment law meaning they can let you go at any time, with or without reason. The boss has every right to get rid of her, especially if those comments were made public. She doesn’t need to be dead weight on the payroll.
that would be fine and all, except the reference to a P45 being dropped in the “post” and the term “wanker” infers that the two parties in question are from England, so good luck suing.

Where I live employers can fire your ass for no reason/without disclosing the reason if you’re during probation. Therefore she’s screwed herself really good.
