No, but it’s funny. The whole idea of comedy is to present things in a different, often simpler light, to show the inherent weirdness in social situations and interactions. That includes stereotyping people and their reactions, and then applying such stereotypes to real life situations, because it shows how non-gays can be perceived as gay.
This wouldn’t be funny if Joel actually was homosexual. These stereotypes are effectively self-irony, because everybody realizes it’s not actually true. Anyone who doesn’t realize it’s isn’t true will also not find it funny.
And this isn’t homophobic. It doesn’t affect gay people or put them in a negative light, it’s just saying that person magnificently overlaps with the stereotype of closeted homosexuals.

The irony here is that The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe has a lot of Christian symbolism. In fact, Aslan is supposed to be Jesus, and here he is, deep within the closet, as are nearly all the characters. Also, Jesus himself was presumably not born out of heterosexual sex (God has no sex) and was the only person to not be conceived in such a way. Also, since Eve came out of Adam’s rib and they had sex, that’s sort of like him having sex with himself. Just saying.
To be fair, though, not all homophobes are teenage boys and I would definitely not say that they rule the Internet, nor that homophobic people are always racist/sexist. And not everyone who pokes fun at homosexuals is homophobic; they might just be insensitive. Those are some pretty big stereotypes in themselves, and only when we realize that anyone can be a bigot can we come to fight bigotry in all its forms.
